  Won't stay again.

  After travelling a few hours in the rain to hotel was not amused to find no heating on in our room, so ended up going downstairs by a fire to have tea. Adding to this our room had a leak (from the rain) in our shower by the light. I raised this with Reception who said to would get the Manager John to come and have a look. He didn't appear but sent the receptionist to say they had called a roofer and said it would be ok to still use. Having a shower with hot water then drips of cold rain water wasn't great. Breakfast was ok, however when the toast arrived it was one whole piece on a side plate, which we thought strange. There are some plus points, watching the ducks in the garden, a canister full of tea bags in the room and the evening meal was good.

  My husband and I had a Groupon Voucher for a meal at the Fathings Country House Hotel Restaurant. It was a lovely venue and although we had a Groupon Voucher, we were treated like royalty, nothing too much trouble. I had the trio of duck which was delicious and hubby had Pollock. My husband needs a special diet and they adapted everything he asked for. This is a lovely place to go for a special occasion and I would recommend. Staff and service excellent too

  Nice lunch

  Restaurant is nicely decorated with a modern touch and we had a fire roaring in the grate. Service was excellent and we were able to stay and chat with our friends. Most of the vegetables are sourced locally as well as the meat. We had the chicken with sweet potatoes and it was delicious, cooked to a higher standard. It is a lovely place where dishes on the menu change regularly due to locally sourced produce.

  Never again

  Watch out for breakfast charges. Very miserable welcome made to feel that we were a problem from the start. Room was ok and it was close to Taunton which was quite nice for visiting. No nightlife so back to hotel
