Christmas day lunch. We went for lunch on Christmas day and selected the more expensive menu, unfortunately we where very disappointed with the food presented to us. The soup was unrecognisable with some sort of oil poured on top, we had to ask what it was, they informed us it was artichoke, it was not very appetizing but we didn't have a choice. We chose the 3 bird roast which was a bit dry, but the roast potatoes were almost black, didn't even attempt to eat them. All the vegetables had been over cooked and the brussels sprouts looked slighty grey not green, don't know what time they had started cooking them. We had been for Christmas lunch in previous years but the Chef must have changed, as the food had been quite good previously. Unfortunately we will not be going again.

Beautiful hotelHad a short stay in this Grade ll listed building. The Lodge Stands in its own grounds, which during summer will look lovely when the leaves on the trees are out. A lovely warm welcome when we arrived, and the room a very good size. Everything was very clean. Breakfast was great, you could have had as much as you wanted, and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We had evening meals there as well, and they were excellent. Plenty of room in the car park, but it is a quiet time of year. The Lodge is not far from Present, and we also drove to Lytham St Anne for the day. Would definitely stay again.

BAD EXPERIENCE OF HOTEL ROOM NO SLEEPI was the mother of the bride ( daughter had her wedding there 16th FEB 2020 ), i had been very ill that day and missed nearly all her wedding. So i needed a good nights sleep, plus i had my grandchildren in with me aged 4, the room was very hot so i opened the window about 2inches wide to let some air in for us all. The curtains where heavy so they where NOT blowing around. BUT the room door was banging ALL night i tried putting towels behind the door to stop this and chair. This could NOT of been from the room it self as the heavy curtains where NOT moving. My grandchildren where awake with me as they thought someone was coming in. So in the end i had to wake my daughter up at 6am ( the bride in her bridal suite ) to let her know and take her son back. Now i had informed Susan the hotel manager of this that we had an unsatisfactory stay and no sleep due to a fault with the door. She had someone look at it and thanks for letting her know and offered me cream tea as a good will gesture which i declined. As i stated to Susan these doors should be secure and NOT move there is play in the door and moves. When you are paying £109 for a good nights sleep ( after being ill all day ) that's something that didn't happen that night. I have asked for a refund £109 cash as i paid, but Susan has said no !! I stop in a lot of hotels and have never had this problem before with the room door as they have always been secure due to fire regulations, Farington Lodge and Susan ( HM ) thanks for giving us the worst nights sleep ever !! SORRY SHOULD SAY NO SLEEP !! Thanks for your great customer service ( NOT ) and like one person has mentioned your staff need to smile. A smile goes a long way !!

First time visitDue to lockdown we didn't want to travel far but wanted to stay somewhere special. My husband booked the bridal suite which was lovely having a 4 poster bed, 4 Bay window and separate bathroom. Room service was in place due to the restaurant being closed and was delivered from a local pub to our room. The room was lovely and clean and quiet with a view over looking the gardens. My husband ordered a bottle of champagne and flowers which were in theroom on arrival, making this extra special.

Anniversary celebration - afternoon teaWe visited today for afternoon tea to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary after getting married here. We had afternoon tea at our wedding reception instead of a formal meal. It was as beautiful as ever. The gluten free afternoon tea was delicious. My husband (a carrot cake expert before he recently became gluten intolerant) declared the gluten free carrot cake up there with the best carrot cakes hed ever tasted. I had a mouthful and wholeheartedly agree. All the sandwich fillings were beautiful. The banoffee fool, lemon meringue pie, Millionaire Shortbread and (non gluten free) carrot cake were just as delicious. The scones were gorgeous with plenty (and I mean plenty) of jam and clotted cream. All safety measures in place and all tables safely set out. Lovely to see Alison and Paul again. They looked after us brilliantly during our wedding weekend (along with so many others) and it was lovely to see them both again. Well be back again very soon.
