  A wonderful discovery!

  We holiday in Switzerland most years. We decided to try a less well-known resort and spent 9 days in June 2017 at the Hotel Desiree, Graechen, with their Gold Card offer. It was one of the best experiences we have had in fifty years! The views from our room were a heavenly combination of mountains, woods and old wooden Swiss chalets, although the hotel is conveniently in the middle of the village. The beds were very comfortable and the staff universally warm, friendly and informative. The smell of new wood greets you as you enter the vestibule and everything seems new and cared for. There is no lounge, but the dining room is spacious, and yet cosy. There are seating alcoves on each floor and our room had its own seating area next to a huge picture window. The half-board food varied between acceptable to delicious evening meal and the breakfasts offered plenty of choice. It is very good value for money at a time when the tourist rate of exchange is punishing for the GB£. Unlike many tourist villages, there was a real local population who all greeted us in the street. it helps to speak German, but we felt immediately welcome. We were able to use a swimming pool in a nearby hotel and the Gold Card gave us the chance to visit nearby Zermatt, unlimited rides on the cable car and a trip on the Jungen lift, which we last used at the end of the Mont Blanc-Zermatt high route trek. Now it also boasts an Alpine flower walk with richly illustrated and FREE booklet! Graechen is perfect for families and the older walker and we shall certainly return to this hotel, which also has a children's separate playroom.

  Charming little place.

  Found this by chance after a fabulous trip up to Zermatt. Close enough, but without the Zermatt prices and easily accessible by car. Spotlessly clean accommodation in a cute mountainside village with great views of the mountains.

  Most astonishing service-oriented hotel

  We have been coming to the family run hotel in Grächen for over seven years and never have we been disappointed! From the minute we walk into the hotel they make us feel like we are at home. The owners and staff members are all very friendly, competent and helpful and try to accommodate whatever wish you have. They offer very high quality dinners and a big variety of different dishes, both local and international. we like it that the wine menu includes a lot of wines from the region . Our kids love the playroom where they can relax after a day out in the mountains skiing. The Spa is modern and bright, featuring different saunas, jacuzzi and a relax area. We love to come here and look forward to our stay next year!

  Hotel acogedor de una familia que su máximo objetivo es que lo disfrutes

  Estuvimos sólo una noche pues estabamos de camino a Zermatt pero fue un gran placer encontrarnos con este hotel y más en concreto con la familia que lo lleva. Su máxima prioridd fue en todo momento que nosotros nos despreocuparamos de todo y pudiesemos disfrutar. Es verdad que el hotel en si no es muy nuevo pero todo está limpio y el trato es exquisito.

  Good family run hotel

  We quite enjoyed staying in this hotel. It's clean, quite and in a great location. It is a family run hotel and they take care of all requests. The only thing needs improvement is the breakfast. It would be great to have more variety. Overall a quite good hotel. Will be back definitely.
