  Superb family hotel

  We booked a double room for 3 nights and found Herbst to be an excellent place to explore the surrounding area (from Frohnleiten to Graz for example). Now, double room doesnt begin to describe this lovely, spacious suite. There is a large sitting area in a kind of alcove next to the balcony, with nice views of the countryside. In the centre of the suite is large bedroom area with sofa, desk & TV; near the entrance is a very nice bathroom. Everything about this suite and the hotel itself is exceptional, in quality, style, cleanliness etc. Do note that this is a family hotel, which obviously means lots of children about. You might think that this hotel would not be suitable to an elderly, childless couple as we are, but it was great. Although there were numerous children about (all having a good time), it was no problem, partly because we were there in May when the hotel wasnt bursting at the seams and because we using the hotel as a base to explore the surrounding areas. After a magnificent breakfast, including eggs cooked to order, we normally departed on our adventures by 9:00 am and returned in the evening for dinner. One nice touch, of many, is that you have the same table reserved for meals. We discovered that the food was so good (and reasonably priced) that we ate dinner here every night. For people without children, it might be more hectic in the summer months, but that depends on how much time you spend at the hotel during the day. There is ample free parking on site. Herbst is about a 20 min drive from Frohnleiten or Peggau and about 1 hour from Graz. In and around Herbst there are numerous hiking trails and of course the 2 cave systems, one accessed in Peggau and the other in Semriach. Both are worth visiting. We didn't rate the pool and room service since we didn't use them. Herbst was our 9th accommodation during our 5-week journey through Austria and we recommend it highly.

  BEAUTIFUL TEICHALM

  We had a great stay with the Family Herbst. A family run hotel with comfortable and spacious rooms (be sure to ask for a room with a balcony); very friendly staff; good and well priced country style food; a good wine list; very pleasant cafe and ice-cream service and a big terrace.

  Nice and cosy

  Frau Herbst extended a warm welcome. That in itself set the mood for our stay. We stayed midweek through to weekend. The friendly service of the waiter and waitress was a big plus. Herr Herbst does not seem to have a sense of humour so one could never get through to him. This accommodation has a fantastic chef. 5 course meals served ever evening. . Our room was clean and the bed comfy.

  Wonderful

  We found the facilities were fantastic. The rooms were spotless. Beautiful food. The cafe does delicious ice cream. The town and the surrounds were just stunning. It was so peaceful and everyone was so friendly. We highly recommend it and hope to return one day.

  Wonderful 4 days spent in this hotel with spa

  We met our Austrian friends who knew this area and booked this hotel. We stayed in room 7 which was clean bright and the scenic view of the mountains from the windows was glorious. The breakfast was continental but plenty of it and they also cooked an evening meal although we ate out. The room was cleaned every day whilst we were at breakfast. There was a spa with sauna,, jacuzzi and swimming pool which were also very clean. Towels and bath robes were supplied in the rooms too. The hosts were very welcoming and accomodating especially with printing our boarding passes for our return journey.
