    Excelente lugar!

a humble place that felt like home!

First of all: the hotel has a stunning location with fab views over the Lake. It is humble and simple, but the owners are super friendly and relaxed! I actually felt so at home I came down for breakfast in my PJ's! (we also were the only guests :-)) Food was pleasant, authentic and completely in the style of the establishment. Really enjoyed our stay and will come back during summertime for a BBQ and a beer! (about the road: there is a second -slightly easier- road to get there. Once you arrive in Brunate, you follow the road left of the funiculario and follow the signs from there... it is still steep, but wider vs the other road GPS's seem to favor)

    Absolutely disgusting

We took this place as a resting stop for our trip back from Rome to our home. As several reviews already indicate, the trip to the hotel is challenging with steep narrow roads that do not even allow for crossing traffic. We arrived with two cars at the hotel little before 17h. As the gate only opens at 18h,we decided to simply wait, as the trip had already been very long. While we were waiting, a third car, German also popped up, making the same decision to simply wait until the place opened. Around the 17h30, the owner shows up behind us, and directly starts screaming and shouting, demanding that he could enter the parking lot by obliging us to back all the way up through the steep narrow street with 3 cars for several hundred meters. The easy, normal solution to simply open the gate so we could all just drive onto the parking lot (where there was plenty of space), was out of question. In his eyes, we all had to do a risky maneuver with 3 cars full of travelling stuff, risking damage to the cars and potentially worse, so he could enter his hotel as the first one as a long forgotten Roman emperor, after which he simply would have closed the gate again for us to wait until 18h. Refusing such a tricky maneuver when such an obvious solution is at hand, he started shouting more, threatening to call the police, only to find out that he wasn't impressing us (which he clearly hated). He ended up opening the gate and in little than under a minute, we all got in swiftly and smoothly. For him that wasn't the end however, as at the reception, he started shouting and screaming again, started telling plain lies to justify himself, started calling us names and what not. Clearly not accustomed to being put back into his place by customers (the ones he's doing that for in the first place, imagine that), he went mental. So we simply turned around and left the place. Obviously, he got the nerves to charge us a cancellation, but that's what insurance is for. Bottom line: in this hotel, you'll only get the view which is nice. If you want friendly people, people caring for their customers and honest people, stay away from this place. If you want a shouting, unfriendly and dishonest wannabe-emperor, this is your place.

    A true delight

What a wonderful charming hotel. Looking down over lake como. The views were amazing. We arrived after a long drive and was made to feel so welcome. Roberto and his staff couldn't do enough for us and we're so friendly. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. We dined at the hotel which is family run and it was fantastic and definitely worth our visit. So thank you Falchetto we had a wonderful time.

Amazing views of Lake Como and brilliant hospitality from owners

We stayed here for two nights en route to Anghiari in August 2017. The approach roads are certainly hairy in places but a modicum of care and patience sorted that out! The hotel itself is simply decorated and furnished but clean and comfortable and better than at least one other that we stayed in on our trip that was also rated at 3 stars. The soundproofing is non existent in the rooms but we had read other reviews and anticipated this. The guest in the next room who had an amazing snoring repetoire slept well all night!! We arrived earlier than expected but found the daughter and wife at the hotel who received us very warmly and providd us with refreshments "on the house" which we were very grateful for after a hot and tiring drive. At dinner we sat on the terrace and watched the amazing scene of como and the lake change from a daylight to night time scene which was rather lovely. Our meal was excellent and the local wine recommended by Roberto was very good indeed. The next day we made the mistake of walking to the fenicular railway to go down to Como, it was further than w thought and very hot indeed so would have been more sensible to take the car to the station, narrow winding roads notwithstanding! On our second evening we again spent a pleasant evening sat on the terrace eating our dinner and admiring the view. Again the food and wine was very good indeed and the service from the host attentive and concerned that we were happy with everything.. Continental breakfast was good and generous. Clearly we really enjoyed our stay at Falchetto and considered it a happy find when we had planned our journey and the stop overs. It was also good value for money especially compared to a number of other places that we stayed on this trip. As a footnnote and as a comment on just how kind and generous this couple is, I found the day after we had left that I had left my jacket in the wardrobe. I emailed Roberto and asked if he could post it to my home address, letting me kow the cost so that I could reimburse him. He did this without hesitation and refused to accept anything from me for the cost which was not insignificant. If Roberto reads this reviewI would like to say thank you for a lovely stay, some excellent food and wine and your helpful generosity. I hope that we might stay with you again in the future
