Generally OK experienceI spent one night here with my family. Generally we were pretty happy with the Fairfield, but it did fall short a bit of what you'd typically expect of Marriott-brand hotels. I'm not sure if that's mainly due to Covid, but either way the shortcomings were noticeable. First of all the building itself is good, it's a very solid and quiet hotel where we didn't hear any outside noise in our room. The hotel is located on a quieter street where there isn't a lot of loud traffic so that's good. The Fairfield is the older part of the complex but it's still kept up to date and generally looks pretty fresh. The common areas are nice, but maintenance and supplies are a bit of an issue. The white floors were splotched with dirt and not really cleaned much (even though that type of flooring probably requires constant attention). You could see a few cobwebs in the pool area, just minor things like that which speak to overlooking what should be routine things. Neither the pool area nor the gym had towels available, and the gym simply had a squirt bottle of sanitizer and a roll of toilet paper to wipe down equipment. The wipes dispenser was empty. Not really ideal. The pool area is nice, the waterslide (which inexplicably bears a KFC logo on it) was definitely a huge hit with my oldest child. The pool is very family friendly, although the downside to that is that it gets pretty busy so finding space can be an issue. The fitness area is also pretty good and a cut above many tiny hotel gyms with lots of room and soaring views of downtown Winnipeg to the east. It definitely gave my workout a lift. The restaurant and lounge were closed, and there was no breakfast buffet on offer due to Covid. That was replaced with bag breakfasts on request from the front desk consisting of an apple, yogurt, oatmeal bar and a bottle of water. You could ask for a coffee as well. The breakfast is OK but personally I'd prefer having a bread item thrown in there like a croissant or something. But that's just me. Service was friendly with the front desk being really accommodating despite being understaffed and obviously very busy. My 2 queen room was compact but nice. The TV was oddly small by modern standards but the streaming capabilities and channel selection were good. I appreciated the refrigerator and microwave. The washroom was very nice although frankly, cleanliness and maintenance were an issue - the sink was clearly clogged, so I took care of that myself. And the floors could use a little more attention when being cleaned. But generally the room was good. The hotel is in a bit of a weird location - to the east is a residential area, and to the west are big box shopping areas and other businesses. It really isn't a walking area even though there are things nearby. Security is a concern for anyone with a car in the parking lot. The night we were there, some cars in the parking lot were broken into and valuables were stolen. Definitely remove anything from your vehicle that could be even slightly interesting to a thief, and park as close as you can to the front entrance in view of the front desk.

Disappointingthe beds are very uncomfortable as was the hide a bed. Swimming pool was open with many individuals swimming , no safety precautions with COVID19 in the pool area. Children running up and down halls, no control.

Nice hotel rooms, disappointing COVID-19 ResponseI stayed here for one night on August 8 while in transit to Saskatchewan. The hotel seems new, the room was big and comfortable. My biggest concern was their blatant disregard for Marriott's COVID-19 guidelines. Although a sign was posted on the front door, there was no attempt to make any of the other quests wear a mask or socially distance. Even worse, the staff weren't wearing a mask, whether they were working at the front desk or mopping the floor, no masks were worn. I was extremely disappointed, and if you're COVID concerned, don't stay here. My thought process is if they ignore Marriott's mask policies, then who knows what other Marriott policies they ignore. Also not the hotels fault but the neighborhood isn't great, there was a murder at a bar (Polo Park) only a 5 minute walk away. Needless to say, I did not stay here on the way back.

Great stayStayed here while in town for a summer getaway. Clean, large rooms. Pool area is excellent for kids. Continental breakfast was good (now in brown bag due to COVID). Great property, will stay again for sure.

CheapNice clean hotel. Rooms clean. Customer service could always be better. When asking for ID and credit card...someone should always be polite and ask with a please...not here... it was... ID and credit card! So rude
