Starting VacationThe Fairfield by Marriott Tampa Westshore / Airport has excellent check-in service. All the Staff were very professional and help with all the questions I had about the area (malls and dining). Hotel is updated and very clean. A great place to stay. They serve a very good breakfast Close to airport and cruise terminal but far away so you don't hear plane and terminal noise.

BEST PLACE TO STAY IN TAMPAMy husband and I were in Tampa to see a spring training ballgame and stayed at the Fairfield Inn. So glad we decided on that hotel. When we arrived, Alex at reception, greeted us warmly with a smile and quickly checked us in. Our king suite was thoroughly cleaned and spacious. We were concerned our suite was situated across from the elevator banks but we never heard any noise for our entire stay. During our stay, we were constantly greeted warmly by the reception folks when coming in or leaving the hotel, which was such a nice gesture. The morning breakfast which was included was plentiful. Some items were: hot/cold cereal, eggs/omelets, bacon/sausage, fresh fruit and bagels/sweet rolls, juice/coffee. The area was kept spotless by Robert, who greeted each person who stepped into the area with a "good morning" and if you needed anything he was there to assist. We sat around the pool one morning and there were staff members all over sweeping and keeping the entire outside of the hotel clean. I just can't say enough about the entire staff, how professional and kind everyone was and just how clean the hotel was kept. We made the best choice staying at Fairfield and highly recommend the hotel.

Infestation, Broken Air Conditioning System And A GM Who Cares More About His Bottom Line Than His GuestsI previously stayed at this property a year ago. On our last night of that stay, I was woken up in the middle of the night to my daughter screaming that she had just seen a cockroach. An exterminator or engineer came, sprayed the room and gave us a credit. I decided that I would never stay at this property again. A year later, after reading some very positive reviews, I decided to try them out again. They were close to some events that I was attending in the area and I was already familiar with the property. Jaymee was awesome in helping me get the shuttle from the airport and when I arrived at the property, she greeted us warmly and was extremely courteous in making the check-in process go smoothly. During the first night, I was woken up to an extremely loud banging noise in the room. In my delirious state, I thought there was some construction going on right outside my window. I passed out again and woke up some time again to the same noise. When I realized that it was the air-conditioning unit, I woke my daughter up and told her to turn it off. I was beyond freezing at that point (I'm anemic) and couldn't move out of the bed. I spent the rest of the night shivering. I called the front desk around 7-8am and spoke to Allyson who humbly apologized and said that she would send the engineer to our room once he got in. She also offered to change our room and give me some extra reward points. She did come up to the room to see if there was anything she could do to fix it, but it was definitely nothing she was familiar with so I had to wait. When the engineer arrived, he informed me that the fan in the air-conditioner was broken and we would have to change rooms. Allyson then told me that she had spoken to the manager and not only would I be given extra reward points but also 50% off my room for the night. My daughter and I were moved to a room down the hall. The first night in the new room was ok, the room took awhile to get heated even though I immediately turned the temperature to 85 when I got into the room. However the second night, as I was falling asleep, my daughter started yelling for me to turn around at which time I saw a huge roach crawling down the wall. I'm terrified of bugs but I finally grabbed a sneaker and killed it. I then called downstairs and spoke to Jaymee who was so sympathetic, even offering to come pick it up for us since we were so scared. She advised me that she would text her manager immediately and that I would be given more reward points and $50 off for the night. She asked if there was anything else she could do and I told her that the late check out that we had already been given was more than enough. When it came time to check-out the following afternoon, when I saw the bill, I realized that only one night had been discounted and no bonus points awarded. When I asked about it, I was pulled aside far from the front desk by (who I later found out was the general manager) Jose who then wanted to discuss the discounted rate that I already had and the fact that he could go into the computer right then and change it to a higher rate. He refused to honor the fact that his staff had told me that I would be compensated for all the problems that I had encountered at his property. He didn't care that I practically froze to death on my first night while having to hear the sounds of some heavy pounding in my room. He didn't care that I had a roach in my room and spent the rest of the night with the light on, constantly waking up looking around the room for another one. I even told him that I had a picture of it (after I killed it of course). No, he instead chose to threaten me and belittle me. So he wanted to raise my rate to a much higher rate.... not $5.00 more to the AAA rate?? I'm confused! My rate had NOTHING to do with the fact that this property is infested with bugs.... the fact that I went back a year later and had ANOTHER one in my room!!!!! Of course he pulled me alllllllll the way to the side because talking to a guest like that is inexcusable!!!! How can a General Manager not have any training in Hospitality Management but have awesome employees who are not only empathetic but also sympathetic to their guests? Jaymee and Allyson showed better customer service as front desk employees than I have seen in a while. They were amazing!!! Constantly asking me if I was ok, apologizing for all the problems I was having with my ROOMS and going over and beyond to make sure that my stay was good despite all the issues I was having. Extraordinary service from these two! Final complaint..... how can you not have a manger on duty at night or overnight??!!!!! Your managers work regular 9-5 hours while your staff is there to cover both the day and overnight shifts??!!!!! Inexcusable! A manager should be on duty at all times just like the employees. I should not have been told that the manager will be in at 9 or 10 am and not there late at night. What type of establishment are you running Jose??? **Side note: the attached picture of the roach makes it looks much smaller than it really was.... I hit it a few times**

Pleasant surprise !Well worth the stay and we were pleasantly surprised. Modern decor, quiet setting and a few knotches above a typical Fairfield Inn which are usually nice but this hotel was above and beyond the typical Fairfield.
