  Best Complimentary Breakfast, Convenient to Downtown

  First of all, if you travel and have dietary concerns, it can be difficult to find accommodations with breakfast amenities that meet your needs. In this case, their were a number of options that were healthy, low fat and gluten free. Not so many options if you are vegan, but certainly a nice and tasty offering. My only "complaint" is that we had a queen/queen, and there was barely 8" clearance between the mattress and the A/C unit, and I banged my shins every time I got up in the middle of the night to use the washroom. All in all, it was a good place to stay on our trip.

  Just ok

  We stayed two nights while visiting family for the holidays. The kids wanted to use the pool but could not stay long due to too much chlorine and had to leave after a few minutes. We told the front desk and they told us others had mentioned it as well. The pool is very small too. The 2nd night we tried the pool again and it was still awful. Around 2 am our next door neighbors were super loud, you could hear running around floors and slamming doors, I just dont think there is enough insulation or sound barriers. The gym was nice and our rooms and beds were what was needed but I dont think we will stay again.

  New (ish) Hotel but I have concerns

  I am told (by hotel staff) this hotel is only about three years old and that looks to be true. For the most part, most areas of the hotel are very clean and modern and well cared for. The primary issue I have with this property is door locks. As with most hotels, the rooms have two locks on the doors, the deadbolt and the swing in place locking mechanism. On my room door the deadbolt was misaligned and took some doing to engage it. Once engaged, because it was misaligned, it would become jammed and it was very difficult to open the door. I would hate to be trying to get out of this room through the door in an emergency in the middle of the night - likely I would throw the desk chair through the window. The swing in place lock also was not properly aligned. If I did not play with that a bit to get it to properly engage, if I swung it into place without playing with it, and then opened the door the lock would just swing out of the way stopping no one from entering. So the door has two locks, neither of which function correctly without special attention. The reason this catches my attention to the point that I post this review, is in January 2019 I also stayed at this property. That time I was on a different floor and, although I didnt notice it until the morning I was departing, the swing lock on that door was misaligned also. That one was so bad that you could not make it work by playing with it. This hotel is new enough that I have to believe these locks were not installed properly when the hotel was built. So now Ive stayed here twice and every (both) rooms Ive stayed in have improperly installed door locks. This obviously is something that should have been discovered on an inspection during the build but it wasnt. The room I stayed in this year, Ill bet the housekeeping staff struggles to open this door everyday when the resident pulls the door tight enough to engage the deadbolt (easier to do from outside). If they are struggling with this door and not telling the management, thats an issue. If theyre telling management and its not being addressed thats an issue. The folks working in this hotel, from check-in to check-out, are great. They are very professional and personable. The lock issue will cause me to not stay at this property again. If you stay at this hotel I recommend you figure out if your door locks work and figure out if youll be able to get out of your room in an emergency situation.

  Holiday, Wedding, Birthday Trip

  Stayed Dec 19 thru 28. Was not a busy (full?) as we thought holiday would be. Everyday breakfast was wonderful. Always 2 kinds of egg - omlets & scrambled. Hard boiled eggs also available. There were two meats every day. One of these - pork sausage patties, bacon, Canadian bacon and always turkey link sausage, which was good for those who don't eat pork.. Also all the typical thinks you expect from a breakfast buffet, We stayed in room 103 which faced the back parking lot. It was, as we requested, a handicap accessible room. One king size bed. If either of us used a wheelchair, it would have been tight. We asked for a handicap room because the 70+ year olds wanted a stall shower and didn't need a bathtub. If I were a wheelchair user, I'd have had serious challenges getting a wheelchair into the shower. The problem with handicap rooms is that they presume any & all occupants are handicapped. I had to hang my long dress from the top of a closet door since all the closet rods were wheelchair accessible. FYI - there are no ice machines on the first floor. Convient to children, grandchildren, wedding venue, extended family events.

  Great place to stay!

  Staying at a hotel in COVID-19 times is a little interesting. Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Detroit Troy doesnt miss a beat. To be fair there isnt normal staff. Actually lately nothing is normal but Marriott properties seem to be surviving. I was in for a quick overnight in Detroit but I needed a hotel around the Detroit Zoo is so I stayed at the Troy location. Every time I am in a new city I seek out the Marriott properties so I know what I am getting into. This location is 4 years old and décor matches some in CT and Albany, NY I have stayed at. The traffic is one way out from so it is a little tricky getting in. If you go out and come back and make sure you pay attention to traffic patterns. The hotel is following all the CDC guidelines and the largest thing I noticed is how spotless everything was. Masks are required in the lobby area in an around the hotel also. I asked the clerk if it was a new property and she said now. I got my keys and headed up to room 313 located near the elevator bank. It was very quiet which is usually my biggest concern anywhere I stay. The room was very clean and it looks as if extra effort to make sure everything was in stock in the microwave/ refrigerator area. The bathroom was very nice with the normal amenities. The TV was working well and no problem with the Marriott WiFi. I went across the street for dinner but since there was restrictions I brought it back to the room to eat. I didnt really get to use any part of the pool or gym but they seem to be closed anyway due to virus concerns. Breakfast is the grab and go concept There is milk and juice in containers. Every bag as granola bar, dry cereal also. That is because the buffet style is closed in all locations again because of COVID concerns. I was impressed with staff operating in limited numbers with all thats going on. Just a side note. The traffic is one way out from so it is a little tricky getting in. If you go out and come back and make sure you pay attention to traffic patterns. This is a nice facility and definitely consider it if you need a place to stay and are in the area.
