Improvement is neededThis hotel is located 1 000 meters (ref. Google Maps) away from BTS Phloen Chit station. The hotel doesn't provide any transportation service like many other hotel does. The hotel offers: noisy rooms due roadside facing (all standard and superior rooms) and thin walls, slow and unreliable WiFi and limited cable-tv channels. I know as a regular visitor to the town that there are many better option in this price range.

Going to US Embassy - then use Expressotel by PloenchitLocated in Central Bangkok, the Expressotel is only 600m from BTS (Bangkok Transist System) Ploenchit station and easy walking distance to the United States Embassy which is literally around the corner from the hotel. I got the least expensive room which was small but had a great large firm bed and a large TV with many channels and strong air conditioning. Downstairs near the reception desk are two fast computers connected to the internet for your needs. WIFY is available if you have a device. Although the room did not have a lot of excess space, they provide you with everything you need for your stay - including a pair of toothbrushes, comb, soap, lotion, shampoo, Q-tips, shower cap, blowing hair dryer, and a few other items that I forgot. There is a coffee maker in the room and you get 4 packets of 3-Way Coffee and 4 tea bags and 2 china cups. The hotel has a restaurant that is quite good - they even have American breakfast of bacon, eggs, toast, and brewed coffee. Did not eat their dinner as I went out, but there menu looked extensive. As it is in central Bangkok there are all kinds of restaurants and shopping places within walking distance and being near the BTS, you have most of the city within easy reach. They also have a fine but limited selection free buffet breakfast that has no limit on the number of times you fill you plate with Thai or American style food, juice drinks, coffee or tea. My room was definitely an efficiency room. but if you are in central Bangkok there is no reason to stay in your room except to shower and sleep. Oh yes, the toilet was American and the shower was large with a big mirror and a useful sink. For your money you would be hard to find better - about $30 USD but look for their promotions to cut down the price.

Ideal location for US Embassy, many perks, but not the cheapest on that streetReturned to the Expressotel to get my Passport renewed - this time their credit card machine worked - so no problems with paying for my room without using my cash. There TV has limited channels, but four or five are English language channels. They have great water pressure in their bathroom and because their rooms are small (efficient) they are quick to cool down with their air conditioner - however, when you leave the room and take your key, the air conditioner turns off (unlike at Jim's Lodge down the street - see my review) so you have to cool the room off again when you return. Their included breakfast buffet was that same as before - toast, fried eggs, rice dish, vegetables, the makings of a very simple salad - the only real advantage is that if you get there early, you can get as many eggs as you might want. The disadvantage is no real coffee but all the 3-in-1 you can drink. Clean, efficient, good water pressure, but no elevator so you climb the narrow stairs with your luggage. Very nice but not a bargain (Jim's Lodge is cheaper) but with a great location to go to the US Embassy or the other embassies on Wireless Road.

the hotel is closedI was contacted by the hotel and advised that my booking could not be honored because the hotel would be closing permanently. The hotel could not reverse my credit card charge but reimbursed me by leaving me cash at the other hotel that I had to book for my trip to Bangkok.

Good for short business tripLocation: I picked this hotel because I needed to contact the Czech Embassy which was 700 meters away. The location to both US and Czech embassies are perfect. The hotel is close to BTS Ploenchit Station, within walking distance but it is better not to walk as the lane is extremely busy with cars and scooters, very small and dangerous pavements. So take a scooter taxi for 10 Baht each ride is more sensible. Room: I stayed in the Hua Him room with bunk beds, top floor, no elevator - stairs only. The beds were very comfy, new and clean. Cable TV channels were very limited (5 channels but only 3 worked, 2 with very poor irritating signals). The room size was very small that you would not spend much time in it watching TV anyway. Air-con was in very good condition, clean and fresh air. What disappointed me was the bathroom amenities, very cheap quality soap and super tiny shampoo and shower gel. Thanks to 7-11 store next door so that I could wash my whole body. Also, the bathroom/toilet was poorly designed as there was no place to put your amenities at all. Plus, you simply wetted the whole area including cloth hangers after taking a shower as the curtain was so small that it didn't help shower spray at all. Breakfast: Included in the price (2,118 THB), a few selection - omelette soup, garlic fried chicken, simple salad and sausage/bacon/toast. Not bad but not impressive. Staff: Very friendly. Not sure if good English speaking though (as I'm Thai).
