  Horse riding holiday

  We booked last minute after a Spanish lockdown. My daughter rode, I read. Beautiful setting and my daughter loved each ride. Amazing trails and views. A workshop with Cathy was a total Joy. After riding for many years and being in pony club etc my daughter said Cathys knowledge and empathy for the horses was like something she had never seen ! Totally amazed :) breakfast was super and the only thing I would ask for is better WiFi for us non riders :) oh and Porlock hill nearly killed me on my bike :) thanks for fitting us in Cathy:) oh and on the way home we sat for 10 minutes on the moor toll road watching a herd of Exmoor ponies getting some shade under a tree :) fabulous xx

  Watching flying owls and buzzards

  7 of us (ages form 4 to 60+) went to see the birds. After looking at a fascinating collection of owls in their enclosures, we watched the display of them flying. This was done in a fascinating way and all of us learnt a lot about the birds and their behaviour. I thoroughly recommend it for an afternoon out.

  A bird experience that lived up to my expectations!

  Went to this centre for a two and a half hour owl and hawk flying experience. Location is at an amazing old farmhouse with pretty land all around, ducks, chickens and horses in stables. On arrival my husband and I looked around the bird pens at the many owls and bird of prey. We were then met by Rod who explained how the morning was going to play out. My husband and I both flew 9 birds. Rod was very knowledgeable and explained all about them and their behaviour. We flew some outside and some inside as he was training the young ones. An absolutely amazing one to one experience, the time literally flew by!! Tea and cake in the garden to finish! Thank you Rod and Kathy for a great morning.

  Fabulous homely retreat with amazing countryside to ride through

  I recently spent two nights here & enjoyed a full day of ridings split over two hacks. On arrival was welcomed by Cathy & offered a cup of tea - no better welcome in my book! My room was extremely comfortable & so snug & I shared a bathroom with a friend. The shower was fantastic too. Got to ride two very different mounts: Archie a 17.1 Irish sports horse & Igor a 16.2 bit less Lusitano. We got to experience different areas of the Exmoor National Park & were lucky that the sun shone too. Breakfast was hearty & cooked to order & we also enjoyed lunch between rides. Only regret is that we never got to see the owl show but this is reason to return next year for sure! Thanks to Cathy, Rod, Jess & Claire - we enjoyed every minute with you.

  FAB-U-LOUS!

  What a wonderful weekend we have just had! Cathy made us feel so welcome and relaxed and our labrador Freddie too. This isn't a posh fancy place, but if it was you wouldn't relax so much. The house is very old and so full of character. It wraps itself around you so you feel at peace and safe. The bedroom was very spacious and comfy. The breakfast was amazing and really set us up for the day. Went walking in Horner Woods which are so magical and peaceful. Will definately be back and maybe next time will try their horses or a flying bird experience. Thank you Cathy and Rod
