The review I never thought I would writeI am generally pretty upbeat about the hotels I stay in - but cannot be on this one. As a group we booked 3 rooms. 1) The rooms were booked as king bed rooms and we got allocated twin rooms, and the hotel would not change. 2) At 1.00am on the first night housekeeping barged into my room and insisted on removing the mini bar contents, playing cards and condoms (!). This despite taking a rmb1,000 deposit! 3) next morning another of our party got locked in her bathroom and had to lock taken out by maintenance. 4) On check out (the room had been prepaid by an agency) the hotel demanded an additional rmb 80 per night per room " because they (the hotel) had not realised it was a public holiday and had charged the agency the non-holiday price". At this point I was about to call the police - but the agency decided to diffuse the issue and kindly absorbed the difference. What can you say about a hotel that does the above? All the OK things about that hotel suddenly fade into irrelevance. I immediately cancelled the booked rooms for later that week. And I recommend tripadvisor users stay well away in future.

Hotel without personality...Hotel situated on a central road had nothing special and without personality. Our room was in front with the traffic noise as background, but the beds were very good, bathroom very clean and generally our room was spacious. We slept well instead of the road noise. Breakfast was chinese, but not as good as we were used to have in other hotels in Xinjiang. We had no complaints about this hotel and the its service!

Hotel for short stop-overWe stayed in the hotel as part of a round trip to the Kanas Lake region for 2 nights at the beginning and 1 night at the end of our tour. Check-in procedure takes a while and the staff mostly looks bored and seems disengaged. The rooms however are nice and clean and the breakfast, chinese of course, offers a lot of different dishes. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, we saw not one big chinese tour group.

in need of refurbishment - little English spokenI stayed at the Yilite hotel of Urumqi for one night as part of a Silk Road trip. The hotel mainly caters for Chinese tourists and hardly any English is spoken. Rooms are big and comfortable but not very clean. They are in need of some refurbishment. WiFi is for people holding a Chinese number only. Dinner was of good quality. Breakfast is very Chinese with only a very limited choice of Western food. Not to be recommended.

Most Uncomfortable Bed EverWe were placed on the 12th floor of the hotel in which the entire floor is supposed to be smoke free, but our room wreaked of tobacco, esp. in the bathroom area. Even running the A/C fans, etc. could hardly clear it out much less cool anything. The bed was the hardest thing we ever slept on. It was so uncomfortable that I had to use a large long pillow under me to get a decent night's rest. Hardly anyone spoke any English to help and the wifi service required a special router to be placed in the room by a maintenance person to get any reception. The entry way door, carpets, hangars, etc. were all very well worn.
