  Great View from the Rooms

  It is hard to call this a 5-star hotel because it really isn't, but that doesn't mean that it isn't a fine place to stay when you visit Tulcea. I took a maxitaxi to Tulcea from Bucharest, and the Esplanada is literally next door to the bus station, so it was an easy decision for me to make. The hotel's rear entrance faces the esplanade, so you can walk down and easily review all of the various fast boats and tour boats before you choose. The front entrance faces the downtown area, so it's a quick walk to restaurants, drugstores, cathedrals, etc. I didn't have a reservation, but the front desk staff was cordial and let me take a look at the room before I committed (Room 616). As other reviewers have mentioned, the bathrooms show a history of flooding, but I was just really careful with the shower when I used it. There wasn't a coffee maker or kettle in my room, but there was a small stocked bar refrigerator. I didn't have a patio, but the windows opened and the view across the esplanade and bay was always interesting. The breakfast buffet (included in my room charge) was adequate. I actually ate dinner there every evening because I was so tired from the days' activities that I just wanted to shower, eat, and go to bed. I am primarily vegetarian, and I loved the Greek Salad so much I had it each time. There is a long menu though with a lot of variety.

  I was there for a coffe at the bar , staff ignorant,spacial the young lady at the bar I'm pretty sure they will do a lot better selling potatoes in a market,not a pleasant place,I will not recommend it, plenty cheaper places to stay,

  Not quite justifying its 4 stars

  The hotel itself has a great location, nice views and really stands out for its parking, which in Tulcea during summertime is a living nightmare. Nevertheless, the rooms are a bit old and furnishings a bit used-up, for sure not living to the 4-stars standards. I used 3-star hotels in other locations in Romania which were by far much more better furnished. Breakfast is good and varied. Presentation of breakfast and location could have been improved a bit. Hotel is very good for business travelers, especially that is in close proximity to VARD shipyards.

  Good enough, but not 4 stars!

  Very nice view, big rooms, clean, but the personnel is not very profi. Well intended, but not profi. Good food, nice view even at restaurant. Sauna is big enough, but jacuzzi is not working. The garbage at recycle bin is taken, when you ask for it.

  Very good hotel

  I really recommend this hotel. It is right next to the bus and train station overlooing the Danube waterfront (ask for that view). THe staff are friendly and rooms are very comfortable. THe breakfast was below parand there was not much soap or shampoo in the bathroom but apart from that it was a really good stay
