  Disappointing experience

  Unfortunately this property is a bit tired post COVID. Shame really. Treatment by Caroline at Reception desk staff was not up to standard. We felt like we were a nuisance if asked anything. With so many excellent hospitality staff out of work,management may like to review their recruitment practices. Breakfast waitress and cleaners were the only friendly staff encountered. Great breakfasts and beautiful landscaping were the highlights. Escarpment is overpriced for what it advertises. We are unlikely to return.

  Disappointed

  Wasn't what we were expecting for such a price, place is nice but needs a fair bit of work done and not to mention the service needs a bit of a pick me up. We came here for a romantic getaway and we would have rathered spent $650 elsewhere. Unwelcoming greeting on arrival from the woman at the front desk who finally rocked up and said she couldn't wait to be gone from here at 5pm. We weren't notified on arrival about the covid measures they had in place where they wont be servicing rooms and we felt like a burden to the manager/owner for asking for the simplest things. My partner and I were crammed into a small room at breakfast where there was no social distancing with 5 other couples. Lights flickered in our room and some did not work, wifi was promised in the itinerary but did not work, walls were paper thin allowing us to hear everything going on next door and some wooden louvres were broken. Staff need to communicate to guests on arrival about daily room expectations and general services. Upon checking out we weren't even given the opportunity to say how our stay was, just told to leave the keys. The tambourine mountains is a lovely place to visit but we will not be returning to stay at the escarpment retreat.

  Room for improvement

  Beautiful surroundings and nice breakfast..just needs to brush up on cleanliness in the rooms. We arrived to no toilet paper and a had to sleep under horrible brown stains on the bed and a dusty room. We asked for more toilet paper on day 2 and got an ear-full about it. Customer service needs to brush up if this is supposed to be a 5 star! Bring snacks with you as there is no food service at the retreat.

  Disappointing and Maintenance Required

  Escarpment Review We rely on trip advisor for accurate information on places to stay. And after a recent less than average experience, we wanted to give an honest review of Escarpment Retreat at Mount Tamborine. If we dont have these important reviews, many other people may find disappointment for their next getaway. Our main concern was the advertising as a luxury villa, when in fact it is missing the mark on luxury. With the recent lockdowns due to Covid-19, this would have been a perfect opportunity to upgrade and clean out the ponds and surrounding gardens. As a colonial cottage get away, it really falls below three stars, because even glamping has a greater attention to detail. And this would be one of the main take aways when expecting a luxury experience. The attention to detail is missing. For example: The check-in experience was missing that personalised welcome, and as there are only 6 villas, each guest couple should be met with a warmer welcome. The front desk is high and unwelcoming, there is no information procedure or smooth run down on what was included. I emailed to confirm my booking ahead of our stay, as I did not see a confirmation of funds taken. I also requested a late checkout. I did get confirmation of my booking, however no information on a possible late checkout. Even while at the property no mention of our request for a late checkout. If it was not possible, it would have been ok. We ended up checking out around the allocated time without asking again, as it seemed to be a big deal when we asked for a box of matches to light the fire. (The matchbox in the room only had 2 matches in it.) Pond area on the way to the villa is overgrown and run down, you would expect the gardens to be inviting and welcoming as part of the experience. The ponds and fountains at reception area are looking unloved and unkept. The dining area for breakfast had dirty and marked windows as you overlook the patio. The skylight above the dining area was full of cobwebs. The breakfast was good and the cook was welcoming and friendly. The Villas need some upgrades and maintenance. For example: One light out in the lounge area Two lights out over kitchenette One Light out over spa bath One light out over mirror No lights in cupboard, which would be helpful when finding things in your bags. Shower rose sprays everywhere and should really be a rain shower with the generous size of the shower. Courtyard/ Garden area outside spa bath does not provide a luxurious outlook. It looks unloved and unkept. Very minimal and underwhelming green space Cobwebs around frames of windows, which detracts from the spa bath view Air Conditioner needed a full service. It was quite cold during our stay and we turned on the heater of the air conditioner. Mainly because the fireplace has no fan to help circulate the heat for the high ceilings of the villa. The air conditioner smelt musty, and after opening the filter area, it was full of dust and mould. I removed the caked on dust filters and wiped out some of the mould. There is no wifi in the villas, and no smart TVs to link to your own on demand services like netflix. We paid the premium price for each night, and also paid extra for the wood for the fireplace, and we have to say it was not worth the money we paid. Listed maintenance and issues experienced during our stay: Shower Head small and sprays everywhere Cobwebs around windows near bath 4 bulbs blown Lights over kitchenette area not working Light not working over mirror Cords untidy for a very old dvd player Remote for TV works after re-adjusting batteries No tissues in villa (we went to the local store to buy some) Only two matches in matchbox to light fire No Wifi in villa Dinning room for breakfast: Windows dirty to patio Cobwebs in skylight void It was disappointing, when you pay a premium price, and experience less than average value for money. I would hope escarpment retreat will look at the last few reviews, and take immediate action to improve on the repeated things mentioned. .

  Disappointing, unloved

  Don't let the pictures fool you, this place is in need of love. Not the most welcoming experience upon arrival, and god forbid you ask for anything like fresh towels! The walls are thin, you can hear everything from the villa next door. The room is dark and smells musty. There was mould on the louvers, cobwebs on windows. The spa was lovely, but again, mould around plug. I doubt they get a good clean through the pumps ever. The air con could do with a service, it was so loud, even on low, that it was hard to sleep with it on, which in summer, is an isdue as there are no fans and only one small opening window with an insect screen on it. The grounds are just sad. The management dont care, are not friendly or welcoming. Way to expensive for what you get. Will not return.
