Nice place to stayAt the heart of Kulmbach, this place offers you free parking and a very good service regarding information and internet. And it is next to a quiet parc where you can do outdoor activities if you want to. They inform you about everything ; the city and Germany as well; even if you don't ask to.. Even about traffic. they are kind and welcoming.

Distance to town center and the old castle. The room was a bit cold, parking just outside backdoor, bad wifi. The distance from town center and the old castle or fortress was reasonable. Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel was clean and in a good shape even if it is an old building.

Good service but needs a lot of TLCAppears to be an owner/operator. As other reviews have started, the owner(?) at check in had lots of good info on the town, places to eat, the castle, etc. Also spoke good English. I'd give the hotel high marks for helpfulness. As for getting what we paid for, it seemed we hit the perfect storm with problems... Room 27 is horrible. Up 2 flights with luggage. Not the worst, but not the best. Room 27 is the last, really the last room in the hotel. As far as you can get from the router, which means pretty much -0- connection. Had to sit in hall near router to get Wi-Fi to work. But then as is typical in lots of European hotels, the hallway lights only stay on about 5-10 minutes before you have to hit a switch again. And did I mention we were the last room, so the hallway lights don't even go all the way down there? Even with the lights on, it's dark by the room. In the morning, noticed there IS a fixture on the wall near the room, it just doesn't work :-( Neither did another one further down. Room itself is ok. Almost 2 rooms with a bedroom plus a sitting area with couch and 2 chairs, and plenty of electrical outlets. Not expecting the Taj Mahal but the slip covers could use a good cleaning or upgrade. There is a nice desk to work on or just write, which would be great for surfing, but of course no Wi-Fi in this room. Taking a shower, there is no soap/gel in dispenser. Really? Could this be any more the perfect storm of a horrible hotel stay? In the morning told them of no Wi-Fi and was told there is another router near us, but it needs to be reset. Once reset, did have internet, but I wouldn't call it high speed. My bad for not asking last night. After about 10 minutes, we were back to the same conditions as the night before. Guess this router craps out frequently? Since we were checking out soon, we just left without telling them again. Breakfast is 5 extra pp. Selection of cold cuts, different yogurts, cold cereals and spreads for breads. Worth the 5, but overall with the other problems, not a place I'd come back to.

Fair but oldI spent two nights there. The breakfast was pretty rich. Staff is very nice and friendly. However, I found a couple of things pretty bad: - my room was smelly - some tiles in the bathroom were damaged - the walls are really not thick (my neighbour woke me up at 6am with his loud TV). - internet connectivity is very poor: I could not use it. I needed to have access to the Internet for professional reasons. Therefore I had to pay extra to have access from my mobile phone. Regarding the price, it was cheaper than other hotels in the surroundings, but I still find it high for a single bed room like the one I had.

Conveniently located near city centreA nice family owned little hotel with surprisingly stylish rooms. Located next to a lovely little park and in walking distance to Kulmbach's pedestrian zone and attractions. Parking facilities and easy access.
