    A real Italian family hotel

We spent just over a week at the Hotel Coste, which is in the mid/upper area of Limone, a lakeside town that climbs the Western slopes from Lake Garda (200m above sea level) towards the hillside whose peaks are around 2000m above sea level. Its situation means that if you go to and from the town centre, you need to be reasonably fit, though there are well-maintained, smart paved paths. Being above the busiest tourist area, the hotel is relatively quiet, and like the town as a whole, attracts a strong German contingent. Our room (212) was upstairs in the Ersilia annexe (which was the original part of the hotel), with a fairly large balcony facing the lake (which on most days was barely visible for cloud, as we were well outside the best of the tourist season - though the whole area retains its charm, even in sunless weather). The room is very spacious, with a very comfortable double bed with good, supportive pillows. In this room. we recommend closing the shutters to the double glazed doors to the balcony at night, as there is a street light outside. The bathroom is of good quality, with mainly high quality fittings, though the shower cubicle doors are a little flimsy. The cupboard and drawer space is vast, but cupboard materials are utilitarian rather than sumptuous. You cannot use your own travel kettle in the room, as the power supply will only support 700 watts and they tell you specifically not to use such electrical appliances. The staff are extremely friendly and likeable, very helpful, full of vitality and good humour, and most conversations can be conducted in Italian and German with all staff, and moderate English with a couple of them. The staff knew who we were and what coffee and beer choices we preferred after the first day! The breakfast range is quite large, with 4 cereals, separate nuts, seeds and grains, yoghurt, rolls, some delicious dark, nutty bread, sweet pastries, about 5 jam varieties, 2 or 3 cold meats and sliced cheese, boiled eggs; but the selection changes little from day to day. Evening meals were consistently tasty, with a choice of half-board menu, set menu or à la carte. Excellent lasagne and home-made soups, and all other pasta we tried was of good quality; interesting å la carte dishes to choose from. The (free) wifi signal was weak and frequently frustrating, even near their router, and the download speed could be impossibly slow at times. As it was October, we did not use the (outdoor) swimming pool but it looked inviting with immaculately clear water. We were sorry to leave.

    Hotel Coste

A pleasant modern hotel less than 10 minutes easy walk from the old town centre and lakeside set in its own grounds with a pool with ample parking. From the moment of our arrival the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, the room was clean, functional and there was excellent wi fi coverage both in the room and the public area of the hotel. We ate in the hotels own restaurant on a terrace with an excellent view and the food was of a very high standard as was the breakfast the following day. Thoroughly recommended for either an overnight or extended stay

    Poor value,unpleasant issues

I want to be fair with this review so I will start with what was OK. The hotel is in a nice location and is clean and well maintained inside. Our room was an acceptable size and had a nice view of the lake. Now the problems. The car park is far too small for the number of rooms and street parking is not permitted, you will end up with a walk unless you arrive early. The grounds are rather scruffy, the grass is long and weedy and is a perfect breeding ground for mosquitos (more of this later) The rooms have NO AIR CONDITIONING OR FANS, you will have to sleep with the patio doors open or it will be incredibly stuffy....you will get bitten by mosquitos. The restaurant is too small for the number of guests and the tables are pre allocated (mostly to full board guests) so you may get placed at a table in the reception/bar area (we did) which is noisy and populated and is more like a snack bar. We didn't like this and asked if we could sit on the terrace,we could but there was a surcharge of 5 euros per person!!!....we walked into town (@15mins) to eat. I spoke to the manageress/owner about these issues the following morning and her response was astounding !! She was agressive to the point of rudeness and basically said hard luck and if you don't like it go somewhere else......we did, immediately! We found another hotel nearby which had none of the issues Coste did and was 18 euros a night cheaper. Coste is an average hotel with irritating problems and is poor value for money. I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU STAY AT THIS HOTEL.

    Nice family owned italian hotel

Within a nice olive tree garden the hotel is loctaed a 10 minutes walk away from lake and center of Limone. Quiet rooms. Those are "italian", means simple and somehow "funny", bit clean and big enough. The pool is good after some exercise and bog enough to swim. nice stuff - very firendly! WIFI only available on terrasse, for us it was okay. Other people may dont like that.

    A really good hotel

A really nice family run hotel, the owners ( 2 sisters ) have a good humour & are very friendly as with all the other employees. The rooms are exceptionally clean & with super lakeside view, WiFi works well. Its kept simple in the restaurant, but is tasty & a good variety is offered. Breakfast is a standard selection & fresh ,with homemade made cakes & lots of fruit & tomatoes from the garden. Pool is super set in a garden with olive trees & with service. All in all an above average 3 star hotel, fairly priced for the area, quiet, welcoming , friendly & definitely a recommendation
