    Great Hospitality

We stayed for 1 night here but I wish it had been longer! The locality is beautiful to walk around, the river a fascinating colour. The Onsen had lovely rooms - We had one with an ourdoor tub which was incredible to relax in and look onto the mountains. The main baths were lovely, but be warned they are hot! I only stayed about 20 minutes at a time. Tips for other first timers, you go in to the main baths naked. You can wear the robes they give you down and undress there, and make sure you shower briefly before getting in ;) The food was incredible and so fresh, and was a great chance to experience Japanese cuisine

    Nice hotel in Kurobe

Enraku is a typical Japanese style hotel with efficient and hospitality services. Most of the staff can speak English and they are helpful in all aspect. The hotel is not fashionable in design but clean and comfortable during our stay. The onsens are nice while the rooms facing the stream are pretty nice. Both breakfast and dinner are served inside our rooms and good both in quality and quantity. Will definite come to stay again in future and highly recommend to travelers while visiting Kurobe.

    One of the Best

Visitors are mostly locals & elderly people maybe due to location (far), price (expensive) and not that popular. We stayed here since we wanted to visit the kurobe gorge which is really amazing during autumn season. We chose the room which has a separate sofa with spectacular view overlooking the kurobe river. Most of the time I have the public onsen by myself. If you like nature and laid back atmosphere you will definitely like this place. Dinner was one of the best, we requested a special meals since we are following a dietary law and they provided us exactly what we requested. You can actually sense that all the staffs are trying their best to serve their guests. During our check out, we wanted to go to kurobe gorge but it was raining, they provided us umbrella (without us asking for it) and send us to the station. This is a great place to stay if you wanted to go to kurobe gorge, other than that there's not much to see in the area.

    We enjoyed stay

Although this an older hotel which I think is typical of the area, we enjoyed our stay. We decided on the standard fare offered for dinner and did not upgrade. Both meal, served in a large private room on the 10th floor, were delicious and generous in portion. The serving staff was quite fluent in English. We tried the public onsens for the first time. They had both indoor and outdoor ones. Thank goodness I was the only person in the outdoor one. Upon checkout, a few staff in traditional dress said goodbye to us. And they drove us to the train station which was such a nice gesture.

    Winter Reunion

In February of 2019 my wife was staying in Taiwan and I was in Detroit. We met in Japan with our good friends the Eguchi's. They kindly arrange this onsen. It was very romantic and we enjoyed the snow in the external bath. The food was good and the onsen was excellent. We even ordered room message which I would normally not do. I am still hunting the clear glass digital tea kettle from my room which I should have tried to purchase at the time. We liked the room with a lantern garden and river view. After two months of separation, this was a delight!!
