  Wonderful room but average service

  Hotel seems to be quite recent and facilities are comprehensive. Empark is located North of Changsha city in a residential area, so not sure it is the best place for visiting the city. I was upgraded to executive room which was huge and comfortable with a nice view on the river and surroundings. We ate twice in the Chinese restaurant located on the second floor: Hunan food was delicious, but service was too slow the first time. Breakfast is on ground floor and it is buffet-style: you have large choice of both western and Chinese food. Check-out was definitively too slow. Overall, it is a very nice place to stay that needs to improve its service.

  Maybe One of the Best At Changsha

  We were in Hunan for 8 days, spent many nights at 4 hotels, I like this hotel the best, not like the other hotels, just keep reminding you, this is China, we in room 1610, very spacious and comfortable bed, bathtub or shower stall of your choice, very clean without smoking smell in the room, wi-fi lock in very simple, for breakfast is plentiful, dinner at the Chinese restaurant is exceptionally delicious, taxi to shopping area about 20 minute away, app. $40 RMB each way, the area is for local people shopping, not much fashionable selection, maybe just to walk around and find something to eat, word of warning, crossing street at cross walk with caution, best to follow a group of people when you walk, otherwise be very careful.

  Great value

  The value equation with the Empark Grand is outstanding. A very large well appointed room including breakfast for, in my case, about US$100 per night. Some patience is needed if you are English speaking, the language skills of the staff are limited, but for comfort in a second or perhaps third tier city, this is a great hotel. While the hotel seems a bit isolated, a short walk up the road is a shopping mall with a wide range of restaurants. As well taxis out to local sites are easy to come by and not that expensive.

  Nice room but it ends there

  Very busy hotel located next to the river but well away from the city centre. During my 8 day stay there were at least 4 trade shows meaning the public areas were always busy. My room was spacious and well equipped with a view over the river. Dont bother with the dinner buffet, the quality was poor and extortionately priced. Breakfast was very limited for western tastes but understandable as the number of western visitors is very low. English language skills are limited and a change to my booking was not made even though the receptionist said it had been. A check by my Chinese colleague with the hotel was the only way I knew my booking had not been amended. Avoid the swimming pool. A surprise to find an Olympic sized pool in the basement but I picked up an ear and foot infection on a single visit. The pool area is badly maintained and the changing area is positively disgusting. In summary, a lovely room but little else to commend this particular hotel

  No heating !

  As often in China, rooms are large and quite luxurious. But cold and impersonal. There is no heating and it was difficult to take a shower with 18 degrees in the bathroom... Marble decoration of the 50s'
