Terrible if you have issues, Great if you don't (management first over guest mentality)Our trip to the Lodge was tarnished from the beginning. When we arrived, we were told that they had canceled our reservation (that we made two months before our visit) a week ago. We received no notification of the cancelation and we were actually sent an email from hotels.com after their "cancelation" saying our visit was confirmed. As we stood there, luggage in hand, after driving 6 hours from Atlanta, the manager on duty told us there was no room at the inn. My dad then asked to speak to the owner, and the manager told us that the owner was too busy to speak to us... yes. us. a guest at their hotel who had driven 6 hours, prepaid to stay there, and were standing in the lobby at 4:30 on NYE with no place to stay for the night. My dad then proceeded to ask if all the rooms were currently, literally filled with people and the manager told us yes. Not but 5 minutes later a couple walks in ready to check-in (lie #1 of the visit). It isn't good practice or principle to lie to your guests. Lucky for the inn, a guest who had just recently checked in walked down and said he was uncomfortable with there being a wedding at the hotel and he'd like to credit his stay for his next visit. So, Elizabeth Pointe put me (a 21 year old) in a King Size bed with my 52 year old parents to ring in the New Year. How nice! The following morning, we were hoping to speak to the owner of the hotel to get some monetary compensation for the inconvenience and discomfort, and the woman at the front desk appeared to be one of the owners. My dad stated our room number on several accounts to prompt her to apologize for the situation and nothing was said. We checked out, grabbed a water and were about to walk out the door and no apology was offered. My dad then brought it to her (who was the owner) attention and she took no responsibility, offered no monetary discount, no free champagne for the new year, not even an apology. Instead, she said it was no fault of their own and we'd have to fight hotels.com for compensation. Absolutely ridiculous. If you look at the negative reviews on this page, the pattern is clear. If you have any issue whatsoever, the management will neglect responsibility and make you out to be the bad guy. Even their responses to a negative review is tacky! Look at the toilet review (of course there was a lot of toilet paper in the toilet because they had a nonfunctioning toilet for 24 hours!). If you don't have issues, you'll probably enjoy your stay! Breakfast was tasty, the lodge was quaint and cute, the view was terrific, the small lodge offers a quiet getaway, and downtown Fernandina offers all you'd ever want. We never asked for a free room after all this. We just wanted an apology and some grace and a place to stay for the night.

Amazing service! We stayed for 3 nights at this beautiful oceanfront inn and experienced nothing but amazing service to go along with the views! We had an oceanfront room which was small but accommodating with everything you want or need. I would recommend the Tradewinds suite if you can get it, by far the best room at the inn. Don't miss happy hour which is from 5:00-7:00 with complementary beverages and snacks. A great way to meet and greet with the other guests at the inn. There are also a couple restaurants that are walking distance to the Inn but you will need to drive to get to Fernadinas historic district with all the shops and restaurants. Uber is non existent but there are 2 very good taxi services that can get you where you need to go. My thanks again to the staff for going out of their way to provide amazing service! We will return~
