My UM students loved this hotel & its family like food, service, travel arrangementsThis is the second time I will be taking 16 U.S. college students to Chengdu, thanks to the next-to-none service, price, and tourism activities this hotel has extended to us, the Business School, University of Montana, U.S. A. My friend, Angela and her family from Arkansa also used this hotel service for 3-day tour and loved my recommendation. The hotel CEO, Mrs. Lily came to this family business from her 5-star-hotel background and is attracted to the owners' business philosophy which is to make travelors feel like home away from home. I saw two guests two nights before who came from South America and did not bring cash or credit card with them. The hotel let them stay (it was midnight already) and send a staff to help them get their money from the Western Union in the morning. Meanwhile, the hotel called them a taxi from the street, without any surcharge fee. If it were in Beijing, you'd be kicked out. I would have paid 3 times of what I paid here for the service if it were in Beijing. BTW, the hotel has a great restaurant on the second floor. You can treat yourself very well with U$10 a meal plus a 5-star professional service. Service is big here. Professor Li, Univ. of Montana.

Surprisingly HelpfulWe spent 5 nights here and were really happy and glad we stayed here. Firstly, a big thanks to Ivy, who we think is a shift manager there. She has a good grasp of English, and went way beyond her duties to help us and make our stay, so good. Once again, thanks Ivy. Although this hotel is Chinese orientated, the booking company we chose, made it seem more western orientated. It was a bit of a shock at first, but upon sighting the hotel website, we realised it was not their fault. Wi fi was not available in rooms, as originally promised, but Ivy gave us a wi fi modem in our room and it worked perfectly. Not much in the way of English tv channels. Ivy helped us select our dinner in the restaurant, and it was fabulous 5 out of 5 thankyou. Even had a private room one night, as main room was booked out due to a wedding reception. Thanks again Ivy. Rooms were very clean and in good repair. Most attractions are reachable by taxi and cost at most $8.00 US? Close to railway and bus stations and just down the road from the amazing wholesale fabric, shoe and clothing markets. Hotel business card has most attractions in Chinese, to help taxi driver. Abot 8kms from Panda research base.

Beautifully decorated yet not maintainedWe stayed here for two nights in the beginning of May, and we got more expensive room. The hotel is very nicely decorated, however, small things give it away that it's not maintained. Firstly, staff doesn't speak English (which wasn't a problem for us, but still). One guy at restaurant buffet on the first day was shy and friendly, but on second day staff there wasn't very nice. Secondly, even though we were nicely surprised to see our nice room, quickly that wow turned into realization that it's not maintained. Carpet was dirty, bathtub looked dirty/worn out, shower leaked into the room with the carpet, which made it wet whenever we'd step on, shower ceiling looked like it's going to crumble, toilet was nice, but flushing didn't have pressure and got clogged (which, by the way is not see through (which is a thing in China for some reason...), which was a big plus). Our room was facing the highway and busy street, so in the morning I was woken up by street sounds. Oh, and the smell of cigarettes in the lobby and hallway wasn't very nice. The whole hotel didn't seem lively, as we were the only ones eating breakfast (at different times), which wasn't too bad. Personally, I'd much rather have clean, good quality room than beautifully decorated yet dirty and not maintained. Could be amazing place if staff and/or management put more effort into maintaining the place.

Such an old hotelThis is a 4 star hotel in chengdu. Although the services are good (include the helpful receptionist), but the hotel looks old and not to bright. On the way to the room also not too bright (low light). The bed size and the room size quite big for standard 4 star hotel. No porter in here. The breakfast quite good, dominant with chinese style breakfast
