Wonderful place in the hills but close to the lake

We have been to the Bodensee many times before and did not manage to book our usual place. A friend recommended this place and we were so pleased. Lovely location. We had a big spacious clean space for our family of 4 - with two teens. We arrived later in the evening and our host pointed us to a lovely Italian pub in the village. Breakfast was served in lovely garden area with lots of fresh baked goods, fruit and eggs. Definitely would recommend if you like a place to start biking or simply want to be away from the lots of people. Thank you Claus for all your advice!!

Relaxing stay in a quaint place with superb hospitality

INTERNET [4 of 5] -------------------------- Internet was accessible via WiFi only and free. When at a good location within the room, the WiFi connection was sufficient to stream Netflix movies and make Skype calls. Some locations in the room had spotty WiFi coverage. Therefore, overall WiFi performance was inconsistent. At good locations, WiFi performance sustained high speed streaming even during prime time, evening hours. PARKING [5 of 5] ---------------------- Parking was free and was in the immediate vicinity of the hotel premise. Parking spots were sufficient to fit an American size minivan (Toyota Sienna). BREAKFAST [5 of 5] -------------------------- Breakfast was included in the room rate and had sufficient variety. Customized egg dishes (e.g., hard boiled, scrambled, etc.) was offered as well as hot drinks. Fruits, yogurts, cereals, deli slices, and bread was readily available on a serving table. Seating was available inside and outside in a well kept garden. HOSPITALITY [5 of 5] ---------------------------- One of the best hospitality I've experience. The staff was very accommodating and professional. The owner as well as the staff were very friendly and always had a smile. English was spoken sufficiently as to not cause any miscommunication. The owner engaged guests during breakfast and asked about the overall stay. LOCATION [4 of 5] ------------------------ In a quiet area surrounded with beautiful apple orchards. Plenty of hiking and biking trails within the immediate vicinity. About a 25 minute walk to the Bodensee with lovely views along the way. Hotel is right on the road and is easy to find. Cars zipping past can be heard from the room, but luckily, did not disturb nap times. The hotel is also immediately accessible via back roads hugged by apple orchards and allows one to bypass most of the tourist car traffic on B31 leading towards Hagnau and Meersburg. COMFORT [4 of 5] ------------------------ Our suite had two beds. The larger sized bed was slightly bigger than a US king sized and was sufficient to accommodate two adults and two young children. The bed was also firm and comfortable. It did not make noises when a person shifts or gets up. The other bed was smaller and felt inconsistent in comfort as certain sides seemed springy. However, for a little child, this was sufficient for a comfortable sleep. There was also a fabric couch that felt comfortable although it also felt a bit old. ROOM [3 of 5] ------------------- The room was large and spacious. It retained some of its original features and easily reminds one of the old-style German houses. The room was well kept, but the occasional cobwebs can be seen on the ceiling corners. My 9-month old son also picked up an insect shell while he was crawling around on the hardwood floors. The trash can was very small and did not accommodate more than three dirty diapers. The hotel staff provided us with an extra trash bag. The room also had a small fridge sufficient for storing a few bottles of beer and a couple jars of baby food. There is no AC or fan in the room, but the room retained a comfortable climate despite being hot outside. There was no iron and board, but we also did not try requesting these items. There was a brand new flat screen TV, but appeared to only show German language programs. OVERALL [4 of 5] ----------------------- I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family looking to get away and unwind. My experience was positive and the staff's hospitality certainly factored in to having this experience.

    Great time at Elfenhof!

We had a great time at Elfenhof. The hotel itself is a really nice place with lots of character, made of wooden beams, exposing traditional German architecture. Its nicely decorated and full of plants and flowers. The rooms were clean and fresh so we felt comfortable, and also quiet so we could enjoy a good nights sleep. It was relaxing as well as active holiday for us. We enjoyed a sunny day out on a boat with cold drinks and went sightseeing to the local castle. We also went exploring beautiful vineyards on a bike. The area is packed with delicious local products, like wine and fruit. We really enjoyed friendly atmosphere, especially thanks to Claus and Kristina who made us feel welcomed at all times. Thank you Kristina for delicious and healthy breakfast, which is served to all guests with love and Claus for your helpful advice and knowledge of the area. Would definitely go there next time!

Quiet country location amidst apple orchards, but close to Bodensee

Quiet location in the small village of Kippenhausen. The breakfasts were excellent with a wide choice of cereals, fruit, cheese, meats and bread with freshly cooked eggs to your personal liking. The rooms were clean and spacious in a traditional half timbered building, typical of the region. The hosts were welcoming and informative, as well as being interesting to talk to. All locations on the eastern side of the Bodensee were easy to reach from here by car. Little local transport was available so a car or bicycle would be necessary. At least 2 good evening eating houses available in the village, and Immenstadt is close by with an even larger choice. Although we visited in the Autumn, breakfast in the garden would be lovely in the summer. A great collection of interesting paintings, sculptures and other objets d'art

    Relaxing and quiet

My partner and I spent a night here for a quick getaway... our hosts; Klaus and his wife were very sweet and helpful. So accommodating. It gave us a real welcome feeling.. the room was new, clean and quiet... The breakfast was just great... served in a bright and cheerful, sweetly decorated room.... with large glass doors looking out to the garden.. will definitely go again...
