    EXCELENTE

Recomendado, y mucho.

    Quality place

Tastefully modern in style. Handily located near the long-distance bus station and 5 minutes from the National Museum of History on Skanderbeg Square. The staff spoke good to excellent English. Good breakfast buffet included. City centre, with plenty of services locally. The building is slightly set back from the main road, so it is quieter than I'd expected in the heart of a capital city. The room was spacious and the bathroom was also reasonably large.

We were meant to stay at Colosseo but were sent here - and wish we hadn't been

Having reserved with Hotel Colosseo almost nine months (!) in advance, I was surprised on the day of check-in to receive a message saying "Sorry, we're overbooked, so we've moved you to a room in our sister hotel down the road". Still, I didn't have any particular attachment to or reason for wanting to stay at the Colosseo, and the Eler turned out to be closer to where we got off the bus in Tirana, so we just shrugged and checked in here instead. The hotel itself is markedly smaller, and our room wasn't as spacious as the one we would have had at Colosseo, but that said it was nicely designed and appointed for a reasonably compact space. The staff were expecting us, which was good to see, although appeared slightly befuddled that we were two men who'd booked a double. "That's not a problem for us," one of the staff at Reception reassured us, several times, before self-consciously adding, "because we have a double room available". Presumably in case we thought he meant the hotel didn't discriminate on the grounds of sexuality, and he then realised he shouldn't have alluded to it at all. The hotel is well-located, tucked down a side-street just a short walk from the International Bus Station and an easy stroll from Skanderbeg Square. For those less inclined to rely on foot power in the heat of an Albanian summer, several city bus routes run along the main road only a stone's throw from the hotel. Which, given its location in the heart of things, is surprisingly quiet. At least in regard to noise from outside, anyway: through the night and in the morning I realised the walls between guest rooms and the corridor are thin enough for every scrape of coat-hanger on rail to be heard as if it was in our room, every door opening and closing, every flush of a toilet and use of a sink. There was also a boisterous Italian child running up and down the corridor for about two hours from six in the morning, which was not the hotel's fault, but still. The other noise issue was the air-conditioning. When it was working it worked fine; when it wasn't it required lots of phone calls and visits to the room and (presumably) somewhere in the basement to sort out. And while it continued to work through the night, it also woke me up a couple of times when it sounded - very loudly - as though it was refilling with water. Apart from the A/C, our room came with a safe (that we couldn't get to work, as it was locked and there were no instructions, but it's the thought that counts) and a minibar, both of which were inside the room's one narrow wardrobe, limiting restricted storage space even further. Water in both the bathroom sink and shower in the morning were barely lukewarm. On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable and the ensuite was simple but nicely appointed. Breakfast was served in the ground-floor dining space opposite Reception, where the air-con either wasn't working either or wasn't switched on. It was a small and generally OK spread without standing out in any way. Coffee (and I guess also tea and other hot drinks) could be ordered from the bar; the only other beverage options were one juice and milk. On the morning of checkout our smoke alarm was showing at Reception as activating. Despite repeated reassurances that neither of us were smokers and that we hadn't done anything to the device, we were asked several times in an it-must-be-your-fault tone "Then why is it going off?" Given the malfunctioning of the air-conditioning, I think they're better off searching for answers in their own systems than essentially blaming the guests on no evidence (especially when they came to the room and should easily have been able to smell that there was no smoke in the room, cigarette or otherwise). In the end we had to go to the Colosseo after checking out in order to pay, which didn't seem to be the most customer-friendly solution to me. Thankfully it wasn't very far away, but why we couldn't just pay at the Eler and let them sort it out amongst themselves I don't know. They're under the same management, after all. We were charged the Colosseo rate, which was 5 more than the Eler rate, despite us telling them it hadn't been a particularly pleasant stay (not to mention we didn't stay at Colosseo!). One last thing: this was the only accommodation we stayed in during our almost two weeks of travelling all over Albania which insisted on retaining passports until checkout.

    Nice little hotel

I stayed there for three nights by accident as I was moved there from Tirana International Hotel that had some issues. The hotel is small but new and very nice, I stayed in a single room that was quite small but well decorated, with a big bathroom that has a nice shower. Breakfast was not exceptional but okay and all the staff was very attentive and helpful. This hotel is surely recommendable.

    Nice and cute

It is a small hotel yet very cute and beautiful one, there are bigger hotels around but this one is well designed and right in the corner, it is close to the city center, and has access to main road, the staff is very careful and welcoming. For sleeping 2 or 3 nights its is amazing, confortable and clean
