  Horse Riding + Accomodation

  We chose this hotel during our visit to Kurokawa & Mt.Aso. It was a new experience for me to stay in a ranch instead of a hot spring resort. I tried horse riding for the first time, it was very fun. The instructor and the lady who check us in speak fluent English. It seems like most of the staff can speak very good English. The room had twin beds, tea making facilities, a small fridge, electronic blanket, gas heater, tv, and also a big jacket for use within the property. The big bath was very good., and it can be reserve for private usage. Our plans cost 8000Yen per person from it's website (epr-r), which includes breakfast and a very nice barbeque dinner. There weren't much activities except horse riding, so I think it will be a little bored for young people. We find the place quite isolated from town (30 min). At night there weren't any lights on the road so I don't recommend going out after dark. As published in the website, the starry skies was very beautiful. I suggest you hire a car in Kumamoto as it's inexpensive and more convenient to travel around.

  top place in beautifull environment

  very nice place to stay in an exceptional environment at reasonable price. view on Mt aso is great but you need a car tôreach the hotel and visit around. we stay with kids and enjoyed a little ride with the horses. Rooms are great and well equiped with top view.

  Great stay

  We are travelling around Japan with my family and I was looking for some out of the way unique places to stay. This ranch was perfect!!! The ranch provides basic comfortable accommodation.... our package also included a BBQ dinner and breakfast so it was exceptional value. Dinner was a traditional Japanese BBQ that you cook on one of the hotplates. The food provided was delicious and we certainly went to bed with full bellies! Breakfast was also lovely. For meals we could choose set times so the restaurant could prepare hot delicious food for us. As I said the rooms are basic... this is not a posh upmarket hotel, it is a real ranch with an authentic rustic style. We loved it. Our room has a toilet but the bathhouse is a shared facility.... it is a traditional Japanese bathhouse with a common change area, shower room and hot bath. After a great nights sleep we sat on the veranda while our three teenagers headed off for an hours ride. Peter and his staff were exceptional with the kids and very patient with my daughter who was frightened. I can not speak highly enough of the staff and Peter who were very hospitable, making sure we were comfortable and happy. Thanks for a great stay.... only problem was one night was not long enough!
