Excellent value for a basic ski hotelStayed here for a week of skiing during March. I was a little worried when first reading past reviews here, but then noticed that people coming here in the winter were pretty happy, whereas reviewers staying during the summer were not impressed... My bottom line is in the headline of this review: El Paso is a basic ski hotel, offering excellent value for the price paid! We stayed during the first week of the "low season" (9-16 March) and the price per person, for 7 nights half board was just 250 Euro... So why did I like it so much? The hotel is ideally located for skiers: it's the closest one to the lift at Fai della Paganella (less than 100 meters to the lift) and the Ski rental store is just across the street. There was always ample parking, either right by the hotel, of across the street. The room was a little small, but perfectly usable, with a nice bathroom (with a shower), a large closet, two comfortable beds, a desk and two chairs. There is a nice balcony too. nothing fancy, but everything you need to rest well and freshen up. The owner, Mateo, is extremely friendly. As this is a family hotel, don't be surprised if you run into his wife and kids here and there... Mateo cooks dinner for the guests himself. You can look forward to a 6 course dinner (salad bar, soup, antipasto, pasta/risoto, main course and desert), different dishes every day, and everything was both very tasty and very well presented. The food is traditional Italian cuisine, some dishes being local Trentino specialties. One thing to note is that, unlike similar hotels in Italian ski towns, which give a choice of 3 first courses, 3 main courses and a couple of deserts, Mateo does not offer much choice for the various courses: Each morning, at breakfast, you can have a look at the dinner menu, and see what's planned for that evening. If you see something you don't like, you can request something else to be prepared for you, and Mateo tries to accommodate. A guest staying with us was a vegan, which pretty much rules out most of the ingredients used in traditional Italian cuisine, but Mateo did his best to accommodate even that (to various degrees of success, but he really did try... :-) Water and drinks during dinner are at a fee, but we found the prices to be reasonable. We enjoyed the red house wine, which cost just 3 Euros for a quarter litter. After dinner, most guests find their way to the small pub at the ground floor. It's a typical Italian bar, with coffee drinks, beer, wine and sparkling wine and of course spirits. The ambiance is very relaxed, the music kind of "oldish" and not too loud. Mateo is there some times, chatting and having a drink with his friends or guests. On the weekend, during the afternoon and early evening hours, there is a sort of "apre-ski" with a DJ playing some loud music. But, it all ends by dinner time, so no real bother... Breakfast is basic but quite satisfying, with fresh rolls, cold meets and cheese, boiled eggs, yogurt and cereal, fresh fruit salad on some mornings, pastries and warn croissants, as well as coffee, tea and fruit juices. Wifi is not free, but is quite fairly priced: Just 9 Euro for 7 days will get you a password you can use for a few devices (smartphone, tablet etc.) simultaneously. You only need to buy one password per double room, so this really isn't such a serious expense... Wifi is available in the entire hotel, though reception is better in the lobby. The only thing I missed at the El Paso was a SPA... Mateo recommended a nearby (though not walking distance) SPA center on the way to the town center, which was pretty nice. It has a pool, jacuzzi, gym, sauna and massage treatments (booking needed). Prices are very reasonable, and there is a discount for El Paso guests. All in all, I give the El Paso excellent rating for the delicious food, friendly owner, ideal location and great value for the price paid. Well done!

It feels like homeI actually never stayed at the hotel but had the chane to enjoy both the pub and the restaurant several times. The restaurant have few choices if compared to other restaurants in the area, but the food is very delicious, I really liked the "salmerino marinato" (fish appetizer) which is not always available unfortunately. The meet is also very tasty and dishes are very well presented. As for the pub, it has the typical atmosphere of a bikers pub, country or rock music and good beer.

Best value for money hotel I ever stayedFelt very cosy and hospitable staying at el paso hotel. Was there on ski vacation with friends where one of our freinds have visited the hotel already and he recommended the place to us - we all thanked him for that... Would recommend this nice family hotel gladly.
