  lovely property, service lacking

  Just returned from a 3 night stay at the El Dorado. Lovely property, great location right on the square. Room was very nice, quiet and comfortable. Service during our stay was consistently lacking unfortunately. The woman on reception was pleasant but not particularly helpful, professional or knowledgeable. Most of our questions were answered with 'I'm not sure' or similar. The guy who was called to help us with our luggage from our car stood and chatted while I hoisted the suitcases out myself, then seemed to expect a tip. Room key (cards) consistently seemed to fail, so when you would return back from sightseeing, dinner etc. they didn't work half the time and you would have to go downstairs to get a new one. One instance of this no one on reception, we had to sit in the hall and wait for 20 minutes till she returned from her 'break'. The restaurant however was exceptional. Lively, comfortable vibe, the food was fantastic, the service excellent. Our best meal during our stay. The Sunrise Cafe next door to the hotel was great for breakfast.

  Awesome 94th Birthday Dinner

  Our family of 4 had dinner at El Dorado Kitchen in Sonoma to celebrate my father-in-law's 94th birthday. What an awesome experience! First of all, they printed personal birthday wishes to him on our menus. Our waiter, Georgio, was warm, attentive, professional and made dinner fun. The food was delicious. They made it a very special experience and my father-in-law enjoyed every minute of his 94th birthday celebration! I highly recommend this restaurant.

  Don't miss this restaurant

  We went back to EDK (El Dorado Kitchen) several times during the week that we stayed in the area. We were never disappointed. The first time was on Thanksgiving Day when there were tons of people. Our server made us feel like we were the only ones he was serving. The food was exceptional so we went back for brunch. Again - a great experience all the way around. And sitting at the bar waiting for our table was just as much fun since the bartenders obviously enjoyed the people as well as their jobs! Try this place out!

  LIGHT AND AIRY FEELING

  We enjoyed an excellent lunch here during our wine tasting weekend. 3 couples....women all ordered the Tuna Poke and the guys all ordered the tacos. All very good and the specialty cocktails were excellent. Service was friendly and efficient.

  Nice hotel with great lcation

  This is a lovely clean hotel right on the plaza. We stayed in the plaza king room with a big balcony overlooking the town. The restaurant was top notch and we enjoyed all our meals. My only suggestions would be that the room have a magnifying mirror, and a better coffee set up. A nesresso or Kerrig machine would be much better. The room was small but loved the big balcony.
