Excellent customer serviceHad a lovely weekend break with our dog. We were provided our own dinning room to eat our meals in which suited us perfectly because our dog can be a bit fractious in busy situations and we felt safe Covid wise . Food was excellent - such a treat not to have to cook . Particularly recommend the soufflé for starter. Be aware that rooms dont always match the pictures on website ( as it states) . Disappointed Initially because were given a room no where like the website pictures but this was quickly sorted . ALL the staff couldnt have been more genuinely welcoming and helpful and did everything they could to put us at ease with our dog . A truly dog friendly hotel for sure . Many thanks

Another great stayWe are always made to feel at home but a very enjoyable stay was made even better than usual by the exceptional service provided by Leonie & Bill. Nothing ever seems to be too much trouble for the hotel & this is especially noteworthy given the current climate. We will be back as soon as we can.

Overnight stayJust back from Kelso and first time stay in Ednam house. Lovely hotel and beautiful river view room. Luxurious bathroom with claw foot bath. Exceptionally clean throughout. Covid regulations adhered to so felt very safe. Lovely breakfast. Would recommend.

A Perfect EscapeIn these unprecedented times, you feel so safe from the moment you open the front door. Very well done. This was our first stay in this fabulous hotel, and we will definitely be back! Reception was so welcoming, attentive and friendly. Our room was a beautiful suite overlooking the river with claw-footed bath in the main room. Culinary heaven in both dining room and with room service. The grounds have spectacular views of the river Tweed and Floors Castle with plenty of seating for guests to savour the tranquil and relaxing atmosphere. Kelso town centre is but a stones throw from the main gates and provides lots of individual family shops and hospitality venues to enjoy. Equally walks along the river are just as close by. We can not recommend this hotel highly enough. Our weekend away was just the perfect tonic to escape from day to day life and recharge our batteries. So sad that the hotel has had to close during England's 2nd lockdown. We wish them all the brst when the doors reopen.

A huge let downAfter a last minute decision to get away for the night, my husband and I booked Ednam house as it was relatively local and looked like a beautiful building. On arrival, the reception staff were friendly and immediately you felt very Covid safe, with lots of hand sanitisers and everyone wearing masks. On booking, we asked for a dog friendly room and upon entering the room were immediately disappointed. It was tiny! Nowhere near big enough for the two of us never mind with both dogs. The only saving grace were the views over looking the river. We immediately called reception and asked for something bigger, but unfortunately this was not possible. We then spent the afternoon wandering around Kelso and went for lunch away from the hotel as there didn't seem to be anywhere in the hotel we could get lunch. On arrival back to the hotel, we went for a drink in the bar, an outdated area that was more like a working men's club, although I have to say the bar staff were very friendly. We then moved from the bar into the lounge which was much nicer and way more relaxing. Dinner was nice, again the restaurant was completely outdated and the menu was limited but the food and service were good, but not special. After that we had the worst nights sleep! The room was uncomfortably hot, the fan sounded like it was about to take off and the room being so small, we were literally on top of each other. The bed was also pretty small. Breakfast the next day, and my husband had to go to work early so I decided to lie in and go down later for breakfast. The waitress when I got there was so so rude and unwelcoming. She was sarcastic about the time I arrived even though I was well in time for their breakfast slot and was so unfriendly. This is my first ever poor review on tripadvisor, I rarely ever complain and love our nights away from our very busy lives and really felt that this was a complete waste of money and time. The trip was intended to be a last minute relaxation, get away from work due to a bereavement in the family and I came away more exhausted and wishing we had just stayed at home, something which has never happened before. I will not be rushing back and feel that such a beautiful hotel from the outside with gorgeous views has really been let down
