Worth staying in just to eat in the restaurant on site

My wife and I stayed at the Eden Park Hotel 2 weeks ago for on a Brittany Ferries 2 nights break Staff on reception were very pleasant and spoke good English. Our room was smallish but okay for a 2 night stay and had a great power shower with plenty of hot water. Our room was allocated through Brittany Ferries but there are bigger and better rooms shown on the hotels reception information screen probably worth inquiring about .The area of the hotel that turned the break from a 3star to 4star was the restaurant in the evening. There was a set menu{changed daily} for starters mains and sweets. The young chef on duty used fresh produce and every plate that came out to us from the kitchen was a delight to behold and even better to eat. The staff in the evening were also very pleasant and very professional.3 courses aprox 28 Euros. This hotel is definitely worth a visit.

    Hard to fault....

I was part of a group that organised a car rally of 76 people that descended on Rudolph, Charlotte and her team. Despite the pressure this put the hotel under they accommodated and fed us in an exemplary manner. The many meals were excellent, the welcome very warm and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel doesn't pretend to be 5 star - it is part of a country park development based around a beautiful lake full of wild life - but it was clean, comfortable and very good value. Point L'Eveque itself is a charming town; full of period buildings, floral displays and quirky shops. We've neglected Normandy in the past coming off the ferry for the dash to the sun, but it really is a destination in its own right. We visited cheese factories (Camembert) Calvados distilleries & Chateaux, all fascinating!

    Great Hotel and Great Team

Well we were happy in our motorhome then it broke down. So called our assistance team and they found us accommodation here . Great hotel great view but to me the customer service is second to none We were only booked for one night then had to extend. A hotel closer to town was found and they permitted us to check out 2 days early. The only negative thing I can say about the hotel is the location to the town if you don't have any transport.

    Reasonable price, reasonable place

Even in high season August we managed to get a room at a reasonable price so weren't upset when we saw that the building and furnishings are a little tired and down-market. The ceramic tiled narrow staircase being particularly bad - looking like you have accidentally strayed into back of house. I found the public space lighting was mean: sparsely spaced fluorescent lights on sensors have a very penny pinching feel about them. The paintwork and furnishings are similarly tired. The room was small with a tiny window. We could hear our next door neighbours' conversation clearly through the wall; we could tell they were talking in normal voices. Luckily for us, they went to bed before us but you might not be so lucky. The room was clean. The evening meal was correct, nothing to complain about, nothing exciting. The wine menu very limited. Breakfast was very nice and the staff were very friendly and welcoming going to extra trouble to bring us fresh croissants. Nicely placed on the lake with a convenient car park, this hotel is good for a one night stop but I wouldn't put it on my list as a destination hotel.

    3 day Brittany Ferries Offer

This hotel is situated next to the lake, its on 2 floors and we were asked if I wanted ground floor as I cant walk easily. We ate twice in the restaurant, it was VERY good especially the Camembert sauce on the steak, deserts were to die for. The room was small and hot but bed very comfortable and clean. I actually managed to get in and out of shower over bath a few times without falling as the bath had non slip base. No English speaking TV channels but that wasnt a problem as we were in France and didnt expect it! I rode my mobility scooter around the lake one day and really enjoyed it. I would return for a short break again
