  Disappointed.

  This is the second time in four years we have stayed at the Eddington House Inn, and this time we were disappointed. The Inn has changed hands, and frankly, I feel that the new innkeeper is in over her head. We made our reservation. On the day of our arrival, we had quite a long drive, and I phoned late in the afternoon and left a message regarding our expected arrival time. Upon arrival, we rang the buzzer in the foyer of the house, and then in several minutes we surprised the innkeeper with our presence. She seemed skeptical that we even had a reservation, and had not received (i.e. Listened to) the message I left. It felt strange. At breakfast, on both mornings of our stay, the innkeeper disappeared upon serving the breakfast entree. We were not offered an additional 1/2 piece of toast, as the other table was, and, there was no meat offered with the breakfast either morning. In addition there was no more hot water available for tea. I think the least she could do would be to make sure all guests were satisfied before taking leave. The former owner, while not intrusive in any way, was available to provide advice on local attractions, directions, etc. immediately after breakfast, and was engaging and quite friendly. The website touts the gardens. As they have been quite neglected, they are definitely no longer an asset. In addition, there was a light bulb burned out in our bathroom, which was not replaced during our stay. Neither was the big cobweb in the corner, or the hairs (not ours) lying on the trim above the sink. The bathroom in our suite could benefit from a thorough cleaning. A responsible cleaner would have noted these deficiencies. In the past, we could overlook the noise from the street, which begins VERY early in the morning, because everything else in the Inn was exceptional. That is no longer the case, and we will look for another place should we return to beautiful North Bennington.

  Confused!

  I haven't had the opportunity to actually stay at this Inn. I contacted them one month ago for the first time. I followed the innkeeper's procedure for requesting a reservation and waited to hear from her -- and then I waited some more -- I've heard NOTHING in spite of supplying her with my credit card number, the requested dates and my choice of room. I've checked my Junk mail -- nothing! I went on Yelp and messaged her -- and I waited -- and then I waited some more. Nothing! Finally, I booked somewhere else where I got an immediate response. My fear now, given that she has my credit card number, is that unless I telephone (I do not live in the United States), I will be charged for a room that has never been confirmed. I've read other disgruntled reviews but was willing to give her a chance. Wish I hadn't. Guests should be made aware too that this owner may be resting on someone else's laurels.From what I've read, the Inn changed hands in 2015 therefore the accolades displayed on the website may be out of date. "Awarded Best Small B&B in Vermont, Yankee Magazine 2014", etc.

  Awesome Bennington Graduation weekend

  Perfect Vermont inn with charming garden. Owners, Kathy and Mark, are lovely. Perfect taste in every little thing and gourmet breakfasts. They even let us borrow the grill and kitchen so that we could have an al fresco graduation dinner celebration in the garden. Highly recommend!

  Nice historic house, not that confortable.

  The room we slept in was of quite large. The bathroom was down the hall but reserved to our use only. Bed was made of memory foam, so had a weird feeling. Note there is no AC, only a noisy ventilator fan. We liked the welcoming and chat with Mark, the owner. He also did his best to prepare breakfast. A overall good breakfast. A bit expensive for what you get.

  Fantastic Fall Foliage

  We stayed at the Eddington 2 nights to enjoy the area foliage. The Inn is very clean and well stocked with amenities. The owners are friendly and cooked a delicious hot breakfast. Coffee, tea and snacks are available all day. Don't hesitate to stay here.
