The Fawlty Towers of BenoniWe had to spend five nights at this hotel as part of a package deal for the national stamp exhibition being held at the Lakes Hotel in Benoni. The staff are friendly but the breakfast was a nightmare. No cutlery, cereal bowls, teacups, no coffee, sometimes no yoghurt, one-sided toast, rubbery bacon, etc. Whenever we advised the manager on duty, she gave a long-winded explanation for the situation instead of running to the kitchen to rectify the problems. Rooms 24, 25 and 26 back onto a strange alleyway where a bright light shines into the bedroom 24/7. This did not stop dagga smokers from puffing away in the alleyway at night. On the Saturday night, a huge contingent descended on the hotel with cooler boxes full of booze and pizza take-aways. They partied the whole night long only stopping temporarily when we phoned the concierge at midnight to complain. Other guests were too scared to complain in case the drunken revellers targeted them.

MEMORABLE STAY AT ECOTELSEcotel Premier Lodge and Conference Centre is definitely a place to be after a long flight. We arrived there later in the evening and were immediately given a very warm welcome by the friendly staff who took great pleasure in showing us around the Lodge. Everything is immaculately kept clean, organised and inviting. There is a swimming pool and area for lying out and relaxing, a small tranquillity area to the rear of the swimming pool and a lovely relaxing lounge area where you can have your drinks. Our rooms, both the bedroom and the bathroom were also immaculate, spacious and inviting. The staff were always more than willing to assist with everything we required. The dinner we had was always out of this world, served promptly and was scrumptious. We did not have time for breakfast in the mornings so we were offered lunch packs instead which were always delectable, appetizing and enjoyable. We will definitely be staying here when we come back to South Africa again.

Bad Attitudes / No services / Disrespectful / HR lady treats you like garbage!I am very disappointed in the way we were treated by the rude disrespectful woman from the HR department, whom i only had the displeasure of meeting the morning we were chased away like dogs. She literally woke us up after over sleeping from a late night's exploring and told us we have 5 minutes to leave the premises because we did not pay for the night. I told her we were booked in and just came in late and was told it's not her problem we must get out. Staff came a few minutes after HR left and took the bedding and towels like we were going to steal them, knowing that we did not shower yet This after we have been booking there 9 days in a row and payment was never an issue @ R5031,00 I expected common courtesy but HR clearly does not care about client's and should not be dealing with any members of the public. I felt this was unfair as she did not care about all the issues and services that is included in the package but not provided, like the wifi being down most of the time making it hard for me to work. We had to go and ask for towels and coffee most days of which a couple of times rooms were not even cleaned. The premises and grounds overall are well kept it is mostly the very unprofesional HR woman who will make sure you never go back, very very bad attitude and you will leave there angry and filled with regret. Functions and parties are apparently a common occurrence while other member are booked in, the weekend was a disaster and we literally could not sleep as doors will be slammed, people party at the pool and get drunk screaming laughing and being extremely loud. Staff will shout to members from outside your door to the other side of the corridor early morning even though do not disturb signs are up. I really liked the venue but not the bad not the way we were treated. I made used of their different Ecotel branches over the past years, they definitely lost a client

Basic & Small RoomI stayed for 1 night during January 2020. I was relocated here as there was an issue with the original property that I was booked at. The receptionist was not particularly friendly. The room is small & basic. There are no blackout curtains and light was constantly shining into the room. The walls are thin and it was so noisy next door. I arrived in Johannesburg at 10pm after an 11 hours flight and my flight next day to Cape Town was in the morning. I just wanted a place to sleep for a few hours but I hardly got any sleep with all the noise and light. Not an ideal situation!
