Forget it!Do not get fooled by the fact that this hotel is conveniently placed near to the train station. It's far overpriced for what you get. Dirty, worn down... to avoid. Do not hesitate to pay the extra bucks for something else.

great location, a little rundown, average valueChose this hotel because of its location opposite the train station. it is less than 5 min walk to qingdao train station. there is a small grocery store next door, and a mall is located within 10min walking distance. there are quite a number of eateries around the area and bus stop is less than 5 min walk. despite its location, room is quiet, clean, quite spacious, but a little rundown. you could see a few stain on the carpet and wallpaper. other than that, they provided pretty good amenities: fridge, sleeping robes, shoe shine, safe, toiletries, electric kettle, tv and hair dryer. my room rate includes breakfast. and they provided a decent buffet spread of chinese (an array of dishes, porridge, fried rice etc), and continental breakfast (bread, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, omelette, etc). staff is friendly and tried to help you as much as they could. overall this hotel is great for stop over to the railway station. the roomrate may not be the lowest and rooms a little rundown, but location is great and they did gave pretty good amenities and breakfast.

Very good location, good priced hotelTrue value for money, this hotel in old city area is just minutes walk from the sea. Mac and KFC is 2 minutes walk, lot of malls which are priced right, you can actually buy local Qingdao beer very cheap from 711 or grocery store outside the hotel, hotel is old but rooms are well furnished nice decor and well maintained. Staff is very cooperative and freindly. They go out of way to help you out. I prefer this hotel over Shangri La in downtown when not on business trip. It takes 15 minutes Taxi to reach Business duistrict (Approx 16 RMB or 3 dollars fare). You can actually enjoy local people, shops and flavour of real Qingdao staying here. The breakfast in morning is lot of variety and if you need anything they give youa personalized feeling and service. The know they are not five star but that what makes them better in service and warmth. I made good freinds there and will return again whenever I am in the city. This is my second stay at the hotel. Full marks.

Close to Rail, seaside, old townRight next to the Qingdao Railroad and the seaside! Lots of places to eat nearby. In a charming part of the "old town" as I call it. It was quiet enough, and didn't have prostitute solicitations slid under our door, which was refreshing. When we booked, we were concerned that the hotel would have lots of railway station chumps staying there, but the price keeps them away. I think that's why it's overpriced. Beds: VERY hard beds if you get the twin beds. My parents got the king-sized bed which was much softer. (hmmmm, wonder why? I guess it's gotten more "use"). Supposedly the 10th floor has longer king-sized beds than all of the other floors. If you are a tall foreigner, I assume that they will assign you these rooms if they are available. Pillows: All of the pillows are awful. Two solutions: 1: borrow a pillow from the common area sofas. 2. neatly cut a hole in your pillow to drain all of the hard buckweat out of the bottom, replacing it when you leave. This requires sewing skills. Bathroom: Good shower with nice water pressure and no hot/cold fluctuations. Fun pine slats in the shower to prevent your feet from touching the tile. We were lucky that ours were new. My parents had the old ones which were very discolored. Wifi and food: Wifi in the rooms. My VPN did not work here regularly. Free breakfast buffet really was quite nice- lots of choices. Show up early to get hot and fresh food. Otherwise, just visit the fried egg/soup noodle station. Friendly and helpful staff (but, hey, I do speak Chinese which is always a plus) Tips: Qingdao subway stations will start opening up in 2015, I believe. It will be AWESOME! Go to the Shinan part of town, where you will find TONS of HUGE restaurants that have safe, delicious seafood!

Not the worst place to stayThe Eagle Canyon Hotel is located right across the central Qingdao Railway Station. It is rather convenient to get there and very easy to ask a cabby to just go to the railway station. Pro: The rooms are clean, they are getting stocked with new towels every day and the view in direction of the ocean is quite pretty. The breakfast is mostly chinese style and, in my opinion, quite good. I'm not the biggest fan of zhou (the rice goo stuff) but they have lots of vegetables, fruit and sometimes even nice and crispy bacon. The staff is really friendly and helpful, sadly there is also something bad about them to say. Look below in the Con-section. Con: The staff, also advertised diffrently, does not really speak english. That was fine with me, because i do speak mandarin, but it might prove not that good for anybody who comes there in expectation of a fully english speaking staff. The restaurant and bar on top of the hotel were closed and a little bit dusty. I'll give it the benefit of doubt, because we've been there off season. They DID look quite nice, so if they would have been open, you could have a blast up there. All in all it is a really nice place to stay. Not too expensive and a very central and nice place to stay and visit the central area of Qingdao.
