  Terrible hotel ever

  There no one at the front in this hotel. First we arrived at the hotel, the front door was locked and there was a letter saying that go to "hotel jessius(?)" to check-in. (that hotel is a brother hotel of this espalanade and 100 meters away from it) Finally we got a key at ANOTHER hotel and walked 100m back to our hotel. We requested a non-smoking room, but smoke-smell was all over the place, pillow, bed, everywhere. We walked back again to the 100m-away front, and told her to change the room. But she said all rooms were full (it was absolutely not true because we didn't hear nor see anybody in our hotel building and didn't see any light coming out of any window). So we had to sleep smelling cigarette smoke. Terrible, terrible place ever. Pay more and sleep at another.

  Adequate if you are after the last rooms in Karovy Vary...

  Let's get this clear, the Hotel Esplanade is part of a group of five Hotels in KV, The Mozart, Esplanades 1, and 2, The Elefant, and the main Hotel Jesssenius. So when you arrive at the door, you see a sign redirecting you 100 metres to the aforementioned Jessenius to check in and collect your key. So far so rather annoying but there we are. The room we had during the Film Festival, was one of the last available in KV, and so quite expensive at £100.00, and although small and decorated in a style reminiscent of a British Midlands commercial hotel circa 1980, it was clean, and the shower room was satisfactory. There was an old CRT TV that didnt work very well, a fridge that seemed never to have worked at all, but the sheets were pristine, and the beds, two singles pushed together were firm. Breakfast was up the road at the Jessenius, and was a good sized buffet, served in a pleasant room on the first floor. The staff were polite and quite helpful. There is a small adjacent lounge with a weighing machine...and a pool table, oh and a grand piano.

  Decent room, terrible restaurant!

  We arrives in karlovy vary a little earlier than check in time so we decided to have something to eat in the hotels restaurant which was situated inside hotel jessenius. The restaurant was empty apart from 1 family of 4 who were already into their starters. The outdoor seating was also empty. From what we could see there were two servers. A man behind the bar who was quite pleasant when we asked for a table and gave us an English menu happily. There was a woman there also....she was very very moody. A smile would have cracked her face I think! We ordered our drinks but did not receive them. The woman came and took our order...we waited and still did not receive our drinks. I have no idea where the staff were or what they were doing but when our food arrived before our drinks I asked for them yet again. We received them 20 minutes after ordering them. My husband ordered goulash stew with dumplings. He was born in the Czech republic and he told me that it was mediocre at best. I had ordered the carbonara which was described as spaghetti in a garlic and cream sauce with bacon. The sauce was absolutely foul. It was spaghetti with scrambled eggs. It was one of the worst meals I have ever had. I did not eat anymore after tasting it and my husband was disappointed with his meal as well. We asked for the bill and left hurriedly. The service was poor and so was the food. We never had another meal here! The actual hotel itself was pleasant enough. It was clean and comfortable and we had our own balcony. The receptionist who was on shift during the days our of stay was sensational. She was always pleasant and let us into the hotel pool whenever she wanted. We would definitely visit the hotel again but never the restaurant.

  Not bad for 2 nights but next time other hotel

  We ware in Karlovy Vary for the first time. We got a woucher for staying in this hotel, we did not know, how it will be. Thay are two buildings, we had a room in one and we was going to eat to other one. It was not so far. We used a swimming pool, but there was very bad smell, so I did not bath at the end... Receptionists ware very nice and helpful. Anyway, The room vas so old fashion, there was bad smell from the shower, but everythiny was clean. I was surprised that they did not hide cables from TV and other things. The food was not prepared very well, again old school, I was not happy with that. All place was so communist and very old, no renovation. On the other hand a very good location.
