  Celebrated a friends 50th birthday travelling down from Johannesburg

  The chalets where we stayed have seen better days. The baths were not very clean and the shower head was faulty which meant that the water sprayed all over the floor. There was no shower curtain. The towel rail was broken; no rail just the bracket! That said, the restaurant and catering was very good; a number of activities; and the setting is beautiful. Landscaped well. Lovely walks

  Disappointing

  Beautiful setting but the self catering chalets let it down. They are old and grubby. The type of place where you dont want to touch the door handles. I definitely would not recommend it to anyone who is particular about cleanliness.

  Very disappointing

  We booked for 4 nights at Dunkeld Country. After 1 night we left. The unit was dirty, grimy, run down and definitely not worth the cost. In fact, I would rather have slept in a tent! I would only recommend them if you have no desire for a clean unit and possibly trying to build your immune system.

  Very disappointed after reading all the positive comments. Won't be back

  I pre purchased breakfast for my wife and I to the tune of R280 per day for three days. We had to order via an a la carte menu and the total price per day does not get to R280. When I asked for change I was told to eat more. When I asked for the change to go to the waiter I was told this couldn't happen. When asked what happens to the change no one knew. When I asked to cancel the second and third days breakfast I was told it couldn't be done. This happened for two of the three days. This is just a complete ripoff and I would strongly advise everyone not to pre pay for any meals. The bathroom in our unit has got mold in the shower. A bit of cleaning would go a long way. The units need a bit of a revamp as they are tired. I think you need to look at implementing fishing catch cards that should be filled in by everyone so that someone knows what the stock situation in the dams is.

  Spontaneous Gateaway..

  So, my partner spontaneously decided we should drive to Mpumalanga, my favourite province. I love the scenery, the nature and I can never get enough of the place. On our way, we googled for accommodation and found Dunkeld Country Estate up to our "the standard" :-) It was raining hard, it just made perfect sense to be there. We had lunch, drinks and were amazed by its beauty! Unfortunately it was fully booked, so we didn't sleep over. We were pleased for the 2 hours spent there, he said "we should definitely come back for a proper stay over"
