    Not bad

Ok, so remember that this is a 2 star, B&B/Inn, so people expecting the Ritz will be disappointed. First, the negatives. The room we were staying in smelt of cigarette smoke. Not ideal, but I totally get that if guests are going to ignore the no smoking signs, the owners can't do much about it. The room we were staying in also could do with a bit of redocorating to freshen it up as there were bits that left it looking a bit shabby. I would also suggest that the in room shower cubicles are frosted, at least in the twin rooms (where the people staying usually aren't a couple). However, the room was clean with adequate facilities, and was comfortable enough for us to sleep. I loved the fact that the tea and coffee facilities in the room contained 2 different types of milk, giving you a bit more of a choice. The biscuits are a nice touch too. Bedding and towels were lovely and crisp and clean. Sky tv was provided in our room too (probably all rooms). The breakfast was gorgeous. Everything on the plate was cooked to perfection, tasted of quality ingredients and served hot. The owner/land lady was very welcoming. We were a large party and arrived earlier than check in, but because the cleaner had finished, she allowed us to check in early rather than have to wait around. I would definitely stay here again.

    Quite drink

When in the duke of Cornwall its friendly and welcoming! Smoking is obviously out side which clearly lacks for those that vape. Which is disappointing when you dont want to smell the horrible scents

    Cheap and Cheerful

The Ritz it isnt but it does the job We had a double room with a shower and sink offering complimentary toiletries and a hair dryer A drinks tray with kettle was also provided There was a bathroom just down the hall and further toilet facilities downstairs near the bar We never had an issue waithing for a loo As you leave the pub to the left is a twenty minute walk in to St Austell centre and train station to the right a twenty minute walk will find you in the pretty harbour of Charlestown Breakfast was a fair giving of the full English with toast and a selection of cereal x

    Mould central

Our stay here wasnt very pleasant. Our room was covered in black mould and stunk of damp from the moment we got in there. We didnt want to sleep with the window closed because of the smell and the toxins mould lets off however it was difficult to do so due to the loud noise of the traffic and people from the pub downstairs. We were only given 1 towel each for our 3 night stay and were not asked once if we needed anything or how our stay was going. On the last night we had a couple of drinks from the bath and were both incredibly ill afterwards, we both had coca-cola from the pump so think it may have been that it was out of date and made us very ill. The pub downstairs was very unwelcoming and the regulars made you feel like such outsiders which wasnt nice at all. There was a shared bathroom with one hand towel which I dont think was changed often- not good seeing as were still in a pandemic. I know its a cheap stay but our experience was still very very below average.

    Won't go again!

We had booked one night only very last minute due to Cornwall being full and we struggled to find somewhere. The bedding and towels were clean but that was about it! The walls were damp and the wallpaper peeling due to the shower being in the room. I didn't want to put my feet on the carpet. The toilet was along the corridor and was grim. I expected cheap and cheerful but just got cheap and nasty. Won't go again even if Cornwall is full. I'd rather stay home.
