Ok, but not greatWe stayed here on a stay and play deal and the convenience for the theme park is the only basis we would stay here again. It is literally across the road. Staff were pleasant enough and the hotel has a good play park at the rear for children. The Thomas theme throughout the hotel was also a source of entertainment for children too. The room was ok in size, but it wasn't very clean with rubbish down the side of the bed from the previous guests and it was fairly dusty. It did have a good shower though. Food in the hotel was not good at all! We paid £86 for 4 of us to eat (including drinks) the starter was barely warm although it tasted ok. The options for vegetarians on the main menu is sparse and the bean dish was just ok. The lemon tart was tiny! At £6 it really wasn't good value at all! The kids menu was better value. The restaurant was very busy when we got there and (understandably given the nature of the hotel) had kids running around at all times (trying to make your children stay sitting while others are allowing their children to run around is not easy!!). There was a lady doing balloon modelling which was a nice touch! There were loads of little flies in the restaurant at dinner and breakfast which was really off-putting! The breakfast was average at best and again not great for vegetarians, if you want a vegetarian sausage they have to cook it separately so is a 7-8 minute wait, not ideal for a buffet breakfast. Also, if you want fried egg, you will have to wait for that to be cooked separately too they say another 5 minutes. Scrambled egg and beans were cold. Though there was a good choice of hot drinks, cereal and pastries. I wouldn't say that it is a four start hotel by any means, but as the stay and play price was cheaper than staying in other hotels in the area it makes sense to use it. If we did return, we would definitely eat before we got there and take sandwiches to eat in the evening rather than pay the price for the (not great) food in the restaurant.

DisappointedWe love Drayton Manor and stay at the hotel and park 2-3 times a year, and have done since our children were little. We visited end of October and felt the hotel was badly set up to deal with the busy half term and the Covid risk. We had a drink in the bar and it was chaos. Tables that hadnt been cleaned, poor service so lots of customers going to the bar. I asked for our table to be cleaned and was handed a cloth to do it myself - not what I really want to be doing on holiday! The staff at the hotel were trying really hard - but they were either short staffed or the processes were flawed. Well come back but not for a while and decided against booking a Christmas break this year.

Fantastic hotelWe stayed here for a couple of nights in October, myself with my husband and 4 year old son. The entrance to the hotel has a Thomas the Tank engine carousal that spins round when you press a button, which delighted my son immensely. It was decorated for Halloween, which was lovely and the cauldron key card drops, complete with 'eyeballs' floating in them really made me chuckle. There was hand sanitiser all over the hotel. Staff wore masks and at the bar / restaurant, the tables were meticulously cleaned after each group left. We felt very safe here, from a COVID-19 / hygiene point of view. The hotel room was clean with plenty of storage and space for the 3 of us. It over looked the playground, so my son enjoyed watching the kids play when we were in the room and the beds were comfy. The TV had full freeview channels to choose from. We were happy that there is a mini fridge in the room - that wasn't mentioned on the website when we booked, maybe add that in, as it's certainly a bonus! What we did find strange, was the lack of caffeinated coffee in the rooms. Usually, there's a lack of decaf - but there didn't seem to be any caffeinated coffee sachets in the room , behind the bar or at reception! It was fine - they sorted us some out, i just found it a little odd. In a hotel primarily aimed at families with young children - caffeine is borderline essential :P unless that's why it was hard to find- it had been inhaled by parents in preparation for a day at the theme park? My son absolutely loved the Thomas Tank engine characters embedded into some of the walls, he 'chatted' to them whenever we went past. He also loved looking in the Thomas themed gift shop - i've never seen a Thomas the Tank engine vending machine before!! Genius! The playgrounds are great because they have enough variety for all ages of kids. The only thing I would suggest for those, is lighting. We had promised our son a play in the playground after tea, but as it was dark by 5.30pm, it wasn't possible. We had tea at the restaurant on our first night there. The food was tasty enough, but expensive for what it was. The quality wasn't any better than pub grub, yet it was proper restaurant prices. The breakfast was pretty good though. I've reviewed the restaurant separately. The Carousel car was closed, which was disappointing. There was a woman dong balloon characters in the main bar though - my son was really chuffed with his 'Jack Skellington balloon'. Overall, this hotel is clean, the staff friendly and the bedrooms pleasant to stay in. Drayton Manor theme park is the other side of the car park, only a 5 min walk away, which is fabulous and it's located in a great place for other attractions too (we went to the Snowdome and Statfold Railway museum, both fab and nearby). The hotel is great for kids, with it's Thomas the Tank engine theme and ample playground facilities. The Thomas room was fully booked when we went, but we will definitely be looking at staying in one of those next time. We had a fab time, but i took off a star because the dinner quality at the restaurant was low, the cocktail bar was closed (with no reason given) and the lack of lights by the outside playground was disappointing.
