TERRIBLE service - awful foodThe Italian restaurant situated within the hotel is the worst 'dining' experience I have had. The waitress service was pitiful, rude and very slow. We should perhaps have been alerted by the fact that despite the business of the resort, the restaurant was empty. One meal was eventually served a good 10 minutes before the next and the order was monumentally wrong. The waitress had to be cajoled into returning to our table and was adamant that she had delivered the correct meal. After some translation issues, the correct food was ordered. After waiting a good 15 minutes the chef appeared at the open kitchen looking disgruntled at having to prepare another meal. After another prolonged waiting time, we summoned management to complain about the dreadful service and EVENTUALLY the meal arrived. The restaurant manager offered to with hold the service charge (WOW) despite our protestations that the drinks should have at least been free. In the end, he reluctantly offered to deduct 10% from the bill. Despite being empty, previous customer food debris was not cleared from tables. Atrocious customer service. Very average food. Avoid eating here at all costs.

Wonderful Transit HotelThis hotel was one of the complimentary hotels provided by China Southern Airlines for transits greater than 8 hours. It was the perfect place to rest before my 15 hour flight. It was spacious and clean. Check in was quick and the people at the front desk were very friendly and efficient. They spoke English fluently. My room was huge and I had the best shower after travelling for more than a month. I have never seen bath towels as big as these before! The bed was perfectly comfortable with big fluffy pillows. I had a great sleep. The next morning I looked out to a view of the swimming pool. The grounds were beautifully kept and I enjoyed walking around after a delicious buffet breakfast. They had food that would appeal to Westerners as well as Asian guests and I found it very tasty.

Not a 5-star hotelNot sure how old the hotel is but it surely looks pretty old and desperately needs some update. The carpet is not clean and wall paper/paintings peeling... Its definitely not a 5-star hotel. We were disappointed.

Everything was TERRIBLEMy friend and I decided to check out the quaint little village and have lunch. None of the five advertised restaurants were open with the exception of the Italian Bistro. In fact, some of the restaurants looked completely abandoned. We went to the Italian Bistro and saw that there were only 3 people sitting at a table but 3 tables had yet to be bussed and cleaned properly. The wait staff wasn't very polite and seemed irritated with us for coming in. My friends spaghetti and bolognese came first and was underwhelming. My food came about 10 minutes later and wasn't what I expected. In English, the menu advertised it as angel hair pasta with asparagus, shrimp and white wine sauce. It came with octopus, muscles, and some kind of small fish eggs, many different types of vegetables, as well as shrimp and asparagus. I called the waiter over to tell her that it wasn't what I ordered. She brought me the menu and said that in Chinese it was advertised correctly. I pointed out that it was not in English and that I cannot read Chinese. After several minutes of this waitress trying to reach her manager, she finally said that I could switch my meal to a new dish. I asked for the same thing my friend had ordered. As she put the order in, a new group of four entered. We also noticed that the cook was no longer in the kitchen, since you have a direct view into the kitchen. After a few minutes the second group put their orders in and the cook still had not returned. I was incredibly hungry and my friend was now trying to speak to a manager who spoke English. Finally, the cook returned after being away for at least 10, maybe 15, minutes. He sent out the order for the second group that arrived after us, before making my meal. Before my food arrived, the English speaking manager arrived and was very apologetic and told us we wouldn't have to pay the service charge since we received very poor service - especially considering that there were only six people in the restaurant. My friend said that it wasn't good enough and that we would be writing a bad review he took another 10% off.
