  Weekend visit

  This was our first visit with family. We usually stay at The Kingsway but that hotel is currently changing hands. The Dovedale is not a patch on The Kingsway. Rooms very average, dirty grout in bathrooms, filthy stair carpet (see photo). Breakfast to rooms only during Covid pandemic, so we ate at Suzies cup of joy cafe round corner (highly recommended). My brother-in-laws room was downstairs by the bins, it smelled of drains and on the second day had no hot water. Dust on pillows. Toilet needed bleaching. I would have thought extra attention to cleaning would be top priority post-lockdown, but obviously not. I will not be staying here again. One positive thing to mention was the girl on reception and on the bar. She worked very long hours, was cheerful and helpful.

  Cleethorpes mini stay

  On arrival to DoveDale the entrance way was clean and tidy and the reception was well organised with covid safety in mind. Plenty of hand sanitizer around and a pleasent receptionist to help out. We were shown to our rooms which were very clean and comfortable. The shower room was clean but slightly dated and tea and coffee making facilities where present in the room. On leaving to visit the sea front the only negative was at the side of our room the hundreds of used cigarette ends which littered the exit. We returned to have drinks again in a safe environment and was asked to fill out the test and trace form has per government guidance. The next morning breakfast was brought to our room due too the dining room been closed due to safe distance requirements. It was hot and we'll presented and this concluded our stay in the hotel which was relaxing and enjoyable

  Horrendous....

  After staying in this hotel a few years ago and due to our preferred choice being unavailable we booked a sat/sun stay at a very high price as there were no alternatives as it was a last minute break .Given horrendous room, like an outbuilding,it smelt damp and dirty. Low ceiling and crammed with furniture and beds. Awful old dated bathroom with mould and stained facilities. We requested to be moved with the lovely young lady on reception who couldn't apologise enough, she gave us another room which was better in its appearance but on closer inspection was quite dirty, there was a months worth of dust on the window recess and the bathroom was very dated and stained. Mould on seals and fittings to shower, bath panel was gaping off and the toilet didn't flush properly. The TV sound worked when it wanted to and the carpets looked worn and dirty in our room and the stairway. The lounge area of the hotel is currently being used as a laundry to press and iron towels and bedding which I feel is unacceptable in an establishment charging the rates the Dovedale is. We did not order breakfast which due to covid circumstances is being served in rooms, i had no confidence in what we would be served. The bed was extremely uncomfortable with a saggy mattress, the pillows were as bad,one was like a slate the other felt like it was stuffed with pebbles, we actually bought new ones from Boyes so our 2nd night hoping it wasn't as sleepless. If I hadnt already paid on check in we would have left also we knew there was no where else available. We were woken at 430am on the Monday to a group of youths smoking whats melt like weed in the outdoor seating area directly below our room window, this was the last straw really. Totally unacceptable standards for any hotel but for one that charges the rates the Dovedale does its robbery. We will obviously never stay again, The only good thing to say about this horrific hotel is the young lady on reception was lovely and worked so hard for very long shifts. The management should hang their heads in shame.

  Wonderful stay

  Stayed just one night for our wedding anniversary and was very impressed. Katie on reception set the tone for good customer service. She was waitress bar maid and excellent reception. Even found my missing car keys. Only used for accommodation but nice tidy room and very adequate amenities.Trish a housekeeper help was very friendly as well so well done to you all

  Lovely Hotel

  Stayed for 2 nights in The Dovedale for the first time and we were very impressed. Lovely clean room, very covid safe with breakfast served to your room. Well stocked bar and the location was perfect for our family visit as it was central for the promenade but down a residential street so it was quite quiet at night. Parking was limited. We arrived fairly early so got a good spot at the rear of the property. Would defiantly recommend.
