Very pleasant.I had a very pleasant check-in and enjoyed my stay here. My room was clean. Plenty of hot water, abundant outlets for charging devices, very comfortable bed and pillows, nice toiletries. I checked in (with no issue) a bit earlier than posted check-in time. I wasn't offered a cookie...I thought, well, maybe they don't have them until check-in time. I stopped by the desk later to see if maybe they had cookies? "We don't have any," was the response from the front desk associate, who was more interested in grabbing her pizza delivery and retreating to her office than in handling any guest request. I wouldn't say "rude," but I wouldn't say "not rude" either. The elevator had a notice suggesting only 2 guests at a time, unless sharing a room. OK, that's fine. Except, one of the two elevators was not operational at all during my stay. When the housekeeping staff were using the elevator the morning I checked out, it was inconvenient. The restaurant was recently re-opened, with a very limited menu--I don't recommend it. Too many better options nearby.

Barely AdequateThe hotel is attractive with nice modern architecture. It does not try to mimic the historic area in which it is located and that is refreshing. However in this time of the pandemic you would expect the room to be super clean and it was not. The bed duvet was not covered at all and it was actually filthy; well let me clarify that it had a loose sheet on top of it and a loose sheet underneath it but they were not buttoned or otherwise closed to completely cover the duvet. The "fitted sheet" was not fitted at all, it was just another flat sheet laid on top of the mattress not even tucked in at all. Then there was the dried toothpaste on the sink behind the faucet and hair on the counter. Luckily I brought my own Tilex and paper towels and scrubbed everything down. We did find the breakfast, which was not included in the room, at Route 29 Craft Kitchen and Bar to be pretty darn good. My husband had an omelet and toast which were just fine. My Croque Madame ( heirloom tomato, ham, Mornay sauce, top with a delicious runny sunny side up egg) was truly wonderful! I really enjoyed that and the coffee was rich and flavorful, but not burned like a typical Starbucks ( which I don't particularly care for).

BEWARE! Significant decline! As a a diamond member we choose this hotel for rest and relaxation. We will be giving it a rest after this visit as there are other higher rated hotels in Charlottesville. We came on a weekend and that was terrible because it was too full and too busy and not enough staff. This trip we tried a Monday to a Wednesday and the floor we were on literally looked like a war zone with a single staff person trying to recover from the weekend. Used gloves- garbage- linens- dishes lined the hall on our long walk to the end. The common areas are no being cleaned. High tough point areas like the key pad to the elevators are not being sanitized for COVID Managment. Just about every carpet needed to be vacuumed and remained that way during our visit. The are very very understaffed or wont pay for the staff. They are not pressing any sheets or duvets out bed was a rumpled mess. The Diamond member breakfast of past is gone and my self and another couple that was there also were highly disappointed in the offer of some muffins and fruit as the diamond breakfast. The pool- I dont feel its working right. Too much floating debris and lots of grit and sand on the floor indicating no one is vacuuming that either. The physical upgrades to the lobby are nice, but service is a disaster and its not clean! Management was communicated too directly the first time and no change. Disappointed and will avoid.

Nice hotel, but a little far outMy family and I have stayed at the Doubletree several times throughout the years and we've always had a nice stay, even during COVID times. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are clean and while we haven't had breakfast or eaten at the restaurant during the pandemic, the food there has always been quite good. It is a little far out from UVA or the other main areas in Charlottesville, but it's still worth it for us as we know we will have a pleasant stay. My mom stayed recently during covid times and, although she stayed during a week, she was happy to see that it wasn't overly busy and seemed to be well-cleaned, although she says she never actually saw any staff there.

Great stay, beautiful renovation, outstanding customer servicesWe had a great time and the renovations are beautiful. The pool is heated and great for families. We had dinner at the restaurant! Wednesday half price bottles of wine! Meagan helped us with breakfast and was delightful. All in all great stay and great Hilton property. We will return.
