  Worst stay in 5 years

  At check in I was expected to pay for the entire stay up front, this was a first in 5 years of staying at this exact same location. I did expect to pay @$300 deposit but not the entire amount. Eventually came to an agreement but it wasnt satisfactory. The next morning I left a request on my pillow as I had been very cold that night. I came back that night from being in a all day meeting and sadly had to use a doubled up blanket as request not fulfilled. I did call housekeeping, but call went to reception as all of housekeeping had gone home. The duty manager very kindly brought a gift to the room. That night I decided on room service... I ordered a clear soup broth with vegetables and some bruschetta, with a drink. Once order placed (this had to be repeated a few times due to a communication problem) I asked how long it would be. I was told 30-40 minutes. After an hour I called to ask where my food was. The reply was, what did I order? I repeated the order and was told it was in front of him. Again I asked how long? 5 minutes, 20 minutes and another call, again told 1 minute and youll have it, 10 minutes later food arrived with no drink, another call was made and another 10 minutes the order was complete. On night 4, in the lobby bar, 1st cocktail was ordered, on payment I was about to be overcharged by $2, I pointed this out to the waitress and she seemed annoyed, saying that was the price, I showed her the price on the menu before it was reluctantly corrected. The 2nd cocktail I ordered, once the foam was stirred was basically only half the glass. I asked if I could take my remaining entree of Olives to my room as a curtesy, only to be told they dont do room service and if I wanted the olives I had to go to the restaurant next door to see if they would do it as room service for me. I walked out, with my olives and back to my room. Im really not sure at this point in time if I will return to Doubletree Alice Springs. This stay was a huge disappointment after so many positive visits. This place has been quiet for nearly a year and really need to wake up before they loose all their customers. I will speak to duty manager before making my mind up for the future

  Nice Room

  Lovely appointed room with everything required. Building itself was a little dated but that is to be expected in the desert. Staff were very helpful providing lots of information and directions around the city. Free parking, a bottle of water and a walnut cookie also provided upon check-in which is a nice touch! Close to the golf course and Casino.

  Loved our stay

  My mother and I really enjoyed our recent 2 night stay here.Its in a nice quiet location on the edge of Alice with nothing but bush and gum trees across the road.The casino is next door and golf club around the corner so plenty of dining options close and handy.We were greeted with a warm walnut and choc chip cookie that was still warm from the oven,so yummy.Our room was spacious and comfortable with a huge TV. The staff were very friendly and welcoming too.Special mention must go to Nghia who was so lovely to us.Buffet breakfast was amazing,so much variety,we did not need lunch that is for sure.Thank you Double tree for making our stay in lovely Alice springs so memorable.

  Disappointing stay

  Rooms need to be updated. Everything is old. Chips in the bathtub. Hard to lock and unlock sliding glass door. Very poor food from room service. Some staff were friendly. Rooms were cleaned well. Breakfast was nice. For the price, I wouldn't stay there again.

  Posh in the outback

  Gorgeous hotel. Stayed here as part of a tour & its been the best hotel so far. VERY comfortable. But heads up its about 2kms to the centre of town. Got a lift in & took about 1/2 hour to walk back. No shuttle bus. But its worth it. Bars & restaurants are great. Except pool bar is not open due to Covid. But still nice. Very quiet at this time of year due to season & Covid. But would definitely recommend this place.
