Great staff and classic Dormy Inn touches!Checking in ahead of schedule, they nicely accommodated a wished- for room change and gave me Room 716, with twin single beds. I had bicycled in, and they gave me an indoor, locked room in which to keep my bike, very thoughtful and helpful. Throughout my three- day stay, the staff at the Front were great. The staff make the hotel, and these folks were super. They also had received a couple of large pieces of luggage from Yamato which were sent for me to ship my bike back, and all was in order, much appreciated. The room is about 20m2 and has the classic Dormy Inn touch: well- styled, efficient, good amenities, good bedside reading lights and mains outlets. The desk - well, maybe not deep enough for most of its length for the whole thing to be called a desk is a good 3m / 10 feet long, with a second shelf running for 2/3 of the length under the top surface plenty of room to store all kinds of things and several large bags underneath, too. Thats a very welcome feature not often found in most JP hotels. Theres a doorless closet with lots of hangers. The sink is next to it, across the entry hallway from the toilet and shower room (no tub.) The bedding was very comfortable and the window kipped open for fresh air. The neighborhood has little traffic so its very quiet, even with the window opened. Breakfast was excellent, and the items changed a bit from day to day. The staff were very friendly and helpful, always hustling to keep everything neat and tidy. It was a nice mood there at breakfast. A good onsen is a Dormy Inn hallmark, and this property is no exception. Located on the top floor, 10F, there are separate mens and womens onsen. Inside the mens, theres a sauna, a hot bath and a cold bath. Outdoors with a bay view is another hot bath with all- natural rocks. In addition, there are three washing machines, no charge; Y100 per 20 min for the clothes dryers. There was not a towel bar in the bathroom, except in the shower itself which would have caused a totally soaked towel. The shelf over the toilet served to keep the towel dry and reachable, though. The internet was really s- l- o- w the whole time, so slow that some pages timed out before loading. I had so many timeouts that I deferred some of the web work I was doing until the next hotel. This is unusual at a Dormy Inn. All in all, its an excellent place to stay I will return there when I return to Wakkanai.

A short 2-block, leisurely walk from the Wakkanai train stationVery convenitnet hotel. Easy to get to the train station, there is a Seico convenience store at the station, Wakkanai Park is a short hike up the slopes near the hotel. The hotel serves free soba 9:30-11 p.m. or so.

Great value, lovely onsenWe were a bit concerned about staying here as we normally pay a bit more than the Dormy Inn charges. But actually I was quite impressed by the whole stay, especially considering the price. The room was quite large for a Japanese hotel. The bathroom was a little small but totally workable, especially because the basin was outside the bathroom/ toilet room so they are less cramped. The onsen is a nice touch, on the top floor with an indoor and outdoor bath and views of the city. If you stay here I recommend you try it. They also handled parking our car with no language problems. In fact the staff were more helpful than many more expensive hotels Ive stayed in. There are some very Japanese touches, like vending machines on each floor, and free cup ramen. But there are plenty of food options right outside the door. I would highly recommend this place if youre staying in Wakkanai

Windy Wakkanai! The tail end of a typhoon was passing over as we arrived, but I suspect the peninsula is always windy. The hotel was cosy and the room was comfortable. We had twin beds, which made the room feel very spacious. The onsen on the top floor was hot, but pleasant. My friend, a long resident of Japan, introduced me to the art of bathing. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor onsen, with its flotilla of ducks bearing happy messages. As we did not eat in the hotel, I cannot comment on the food. Altogether a good nights stay there.

Great hotel with a lovely onsenGreat hotel with a lovely onsen on the rooftop (hot baths, both indoors and outdoors in the fresh air, are available). The hotel staff were extremely friendly. Easy to park your car directly outside the hotel for YEN400 per night). Our room was small but spacious enough for two people. A mini-fridge, kettle, slippers, dressing gowns, shower products etc. are available in the room. Good tasting coffee-machine is available free of charge in the lobby, so we were able to have coffee whenever we wanted. A good number of Japanese restaurants (for dinner) are within 2-4 minutes walking distance from the hotel. Japanese style breakfast only. We will definitely stay there again.
