Breathtaking views....and bugsSo...stayed here last night with my three kids and the apt balconys view overlooking the river was just gorgeous when the sun came up (missed the sunset, but sure that was great too!) Everything was clean and fresh looking; even if a bit worn (cabinets etc). My main gripe is that there were no screens on the windows (I am finding thats just the way it is hereIm US). So with no AC, it would have been lovely to have some fresh night air circulating but alas there were critters lurking and also inside (had to eliminate a few spiders, capture a good sized hornet in the bedroom and release carefully). I dont mind those things so much when Im camping, even in the restrooms on the grounds, but in a hotel of any sort, I enjoy bug free living....I did close all the windows because I couldnt stand the thought of things crawling on me or my babies in the night. It was just the right temp to be ok with that done. Breakfast I unfortunately didnt get to enjoy due to time, nor any of the other amenities. Alsono coffee in the room or at least I found none. Staff was friendly and the lobby/restaurant looked wonderful. Bottom line, yes I would visit again and stay in an apartment but only during cool season when bugs are gone; and Id pack my own coffee and cream

Wellness pool was occupied by a school classThis is not a review. This is a message to the Hotel Management. We wanted to enjoy a weekend get away in a nice spa. The location of the hotel at the lake in the middle of a forest is definitely lovely. The spa area is also nice. It could be cleaner (in the resting room, there were several insects lying on the floor). But nothing topped the school class, screaming children and teenager, occupying in the earliest hours of morning the hotel pool. There was no announcement made in the elevator which should have been, otherwise I would have not woken up this early to go to the pool. It was a french school class and the trainer didnt even consider the tone of their voices. They screamed across the pool. I contacted the staff who was working at the pool, but neither could she provide me any information how long they will stay in the pool nor was she ready to get me in touch with the management. There were 3 other ladies in the pool at the time, but 2 of us (me included) left when 2 additional guests arrived at the pool since there was definitely not enough space for 5 swimmers. This is ridiculous... The spa forbids entry to children under certain age but the hotel management offers the hotel pool for a classroom swim training without announcing it to the hotel guests? This is unbelievable. To be honest, I never ever, from the worst hotel, wanted the money back. However this time, I feel scammed by the hotel since I was not able to utilize my full time until check-out and woke up early to relax. If the management had announced this to the guests, I would have been fine. But the attitude of the hotel staff in this matter as well as the no announcement of the hotel is unbelievable for the standard of the Dorint Hotel.

Good wholesome foodAdvertised as a Spa hotel but has limitations with only one sauna, one steam room and one cool room. It really needed a second sauna that was at a lower temperature. There is a hot tub and a relaxing room. Massage is offered by a separate booking. The swimming pool is excellent. The hotel looks tired and could do with some maintenance (wallpaper peeling, stair carpet ripped (dangerous!). The heating in the room was difficult to control and often too hot. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast food offering was outstanding, probably one of the best we have experienced. This was a winter break for us and one can imagine that in warmer weather it could be wonderful to visit although probably crowded with people. The landscape was beautiful around the lake and we had enjoyable walks. The quality of wine offered was exceptionally poor and very expensive, 6,20-7,20 a glass! This hotel is situated 70 kms from one of Germany's best wine producing areas so why are they not sourcing wine on the doorstep and selling at a reasonable price and not the exorbitant prices that one finds in the UK?
