Pessima vacanza (terrible safari with the hotel)Weve stayed in Dorado Cottage in December 2011. The territory of the hotel is green and clean, staff is nice, rooms are big, but!!! The beach was terrible and full of algae (almost 50 sm high). The staff tried to clean it, everyday they were cleaning and the day after the sea was bringing other tons and tons of algae you also could not swim in the sea, cause algae was covering you all DUSGUSTING!!! They say in august the beach should be better, because course of the sea is different maybe, but, in December, it is definitely not the paradise beach, you see on advertizing booklets!!! Food: good, but not a big choice. They also at the beginning of the vacations fix you on the table. If you are a couple, they put you together with other couple so no romantic dinners you will always be in the company. Light and electricity: 2-3 time during our week stay there were electricity blackouts in the evening. Air conditioning: old and laud. Towels: OLD!!! DIRTY!!! Guys, please change them for the new once!!! The same with beach towels. The are terribly old!!! Excursions: If youve decided anyway to go to that hotel, please do not take excursions from them!!! We referred to the excursions organized by the hotel, because we thought they should be more secure of the good quality. The girl, responsible for the excursions promised us a good jeep, Italian speaking guide, which will bring us to see all wonders of Kenian nature. All that were just promises, nothing more. Other people, which referred to the Kenian local agencies for safari tours and beach boys, paid much less and saw more animals. Our guide didnt speak Italian, and jeep we had was so old, that it stopped in the middle of the savanna at 17:00 they tried to repaired it, then called other drivers and made it work but it was very bad experience!!! When we came back to the hotel, we claimed about the terrible excursion, but we received no excuses, no explanations and no money back for sure the director of the hotel tried to resolve the issue, but without the result (though, we are thankful for that try anyway).

Paradise in Kenya...My stay in Dorado cottage was amazing ,an unforgettable holiday...!! ..the 23 awesome cottages are situated in a beautiful tropical garden ,the pool area has a small bar...where you can have tea at 5pm and aperitifs at 7pm...Fresh fruit is served on Dorado's private beach or pool areas twice a day...lunch and dinner ,a choice of fresh fish or meat ,plenty of wonderful fruits and tasty local vegetables..! All the lovely staff speak Italian and English... Malindi center is 5 minutes by tuk tuk ,for shopping ,bars ristorant's Casino and more.... I would definately recommend this resort to who wants a romantic peaceful stay, in a small corner of paradise... see you soon Dorado...

Nothing particularly outstanding here...We checked in after arriving from Nairobi, and were taken up and down and around to get to our cottage. My wheeled luggage did not particularly like the stairs at every turn, but the suite/room was promising! As we settled in, we found that things were a bit run down. After the sun set, the lighting in the room was inadequate for the beach reads we had brought, and the music from the bar area was pervasive when we were ready to rest from our day's travel. We went to the lobby to check on available activities, but everything was in Italian, no English or Swahili versions in a country whose official languages are English and Swahili... We felt a little out of place. Each cottage has a bedroom, living area, and roofed porch, so at first we felt like we were in a luxury suite. As we looked closer, things were not quite what they appeared to be. No hot water in the shower, but to be fair, it was plenty warm after our hot Kenyan day! From the perspective of a US resort or hotel this would have been a "poor" rating, but in Kenya we have to give it an average, because of all the places that would never have compared to this one! The staff was friendly, but not particularly competent. We tried to pay with a credit card, only to be informed that there would be an additional 5% charge if we used our card instead of cash. We protested, and with a manager consultation were finally able to pay the advertised rate. We requested breakfast at 6:30 AM because of an early start time the next day, but at 6:30 the kitchen and dining room were cold, dark and locked. The front desk apologized, and in the end some scrambled eggs and coffee were finally offered around 7:15, after our driver arrived. The pool was cool and refreshing, but small, didn't take too many strokes to get from one end to the other. The poolside bar looked promising too, but most of the mixed drinks on the menu were "not available" so we settled for a local beer instead of the tropical mixed drink that we wanted. To be fair, the wifi at the bar was good, and even worked around the corner at the pool, but didn't work in our room! We were thinking of coming back after our safari, but ended up booking elsewhere. If you are looking for an okay bed & breakfast, with a dinner buffet that is limited to the scheduled meal for the night, this place might be for you. If you want a place with the beach a 3 minute walk away, this place might be for you. If you want great service and great accommodations, look elsewhere.

Comida tipo bufet simplemente correcta.
