  Extraordinario

  Como siempre te imaginaste Inglaterra, el hotel está algo envejecido pero esta decadencia le aporta encanto y personalidad. Espero volver, por su tranquilidad, por su buena relación con el precio, por la amabilidad del servicio y sobre todo por el paseo de las mañanas, con ardillas saliendote al paso ycisnes junto al puente.

  Excellent golf holiday venue

  We were part of a golf club tour in 2019 and 95% of those that attended had been booked to return in 2020 which proves how please we all were. Hotel is "quirky" but some much character and the golf course was very challenging.

  Slow WiFi loud lawn mowers at 630am

  No one answers the phone at weekends and emails bounce back. The taps get v hot including bath shower basin and hot as in you can't touch them Words like "yes I know" and "well obviously" were said to me not great patterns of speech for customer service! Asked for room to be vacumed and on return bits were still on the floor  a complete joke. An industrial sounding and size lawn mower allowed to start up at 630am in the mornings so even though this is a spa hotel the "spa" bit doesn't really recognise peace and quiet as an element? Stayed 6 nights and you HAVE to ask for a drinks bag everyday and wouldn't accept our request to have one left in the room each day - why? I stripped the beds to make sure the sheets were actually changed after 4 days use just in case they just made the beds up. The bath took 25 mins to fill up on top floor water pressure non existant here. WiFi is v slow in some rooms quite annoying when all you want to do is watch a movie in the evening. The TV channel changing takes about 2 secobds to kick Into channel so a TV WiFi overhaul much needed here. The plus side is location and decor of rooms and price.

  Wonderful way to round off our wedding

  My husband and I stayed in the Manor House Suite the night of our wedding and it was absolutely lovely. Really comfy bed and clean spacious rooms. The complimentary bottle of champagne was a really kind gesture. It was the perfect way to end our wedding day.

  Despite the misery of Covid we found joy at The Donnington Grove

  This was a last-minute (decision made during a rather nice haddock and chips lunch at the DG) to stay overnight. We are locals and enjoy the familiarity of the staff and the lovely hospitality always afforded us whenever we visit but with a(another) lockdown looming we chose to seize the moment to engage in some R&R - and more wine! We invited 2 other couples to join us for drinks in the bar and later dinner in the restaurant (we were delighted to share our favourite hotel with 1 couple also booking a room) and it was one of the most amazing last-minute get-togethers any of us had enjoyed! Thanks to Dawn, who served us at lunchtime and arranged the booking of our room, and Andrea on reception who not only welcomed us (back) so warmly and then ensured we were as comfortable as could be for such a snap decision to stay, Room 1 is a lovely room and our guests also loved room 4 immensely. Breakfast was very, very good. Excellent ingredients cooked to perfection and served by 2 delightful and helpful waiters. Thank you all for making an otherwise miserable Saturday/Sunday a smashing break from the norm (well, 2020 normal that is) and turning it into a smashing weekend which will talked about for a very long time to come. Well done!
