  Dinner

  A truly disappointing experience. The food presented was lack lustre and unappetising to look at. The dessert was a massive let down also. In fact both Brownies were returned but we were charged for them nevertheless. Despite advertising that their eat out to help out scheme was continuing through September, 2 friends and I booked dinner only to be told when settling the bill that they werent doing the scheme anymore and the FB post had been removed. So we were charged full price for our meal. The only redeeming factor was the very nice young waitress who did her very best to make sure we had everything we needed.

  Great small hotel

  This is our 3rd time this year and each time the hotel excels our expectations. The hotel is well placed on the main street and close to all amenities. On arrival at the hotel we were greeted and checked in by a very helpful staff member and allocated a room on the second floor with views of the Main Street and the mourne mountains. The room has everything that you would expect while on holiday and if anything else is need the hotel staff are always on hand to help. During this time of Covid 19, all precautions have been put in place and we felt safe during our stay. Since last year, the hotel has added a outdoor bar area which is an excellent addition which we found very nice as the weather during our stay was great. Breakfast is served in the bar area with spacing between all tables and good food on offer. I would recommend this hotel to all types of holiday makers.

  Retirement

  Oh what a brilliant night in this wonderful hotel. My daughters brought me to climb Slieve Donard ( which we managed ) and have an overnight in Newcastle for my retirement. I have to mention Joanne What a pet. And her daughter. Met both at breakfast and they couldnt do enough for us and for everyone at the other tables So so friendly and even remembered the occasion. Made me feel very special. Room was just perfect, new fancy pillows and great sleep in very comfortable beds. All in all couldnt have been better. Will definitely be back and hopefully meet the lovely Joanne again. Thank you so much Alice, Deborah and Louise

  Wonderful 5 nights

  We had a 5 night stay whilst visiting our daughter, and couldn't be happier with with our choice of hotel. The staff were a perfect combination of friendly, professional and ever so helpful. They have an excellent Covid protocol using screens masks and sanitizers whilst maintaining a personal touch. The room was really spacious with a lovely view down the high street to the Mourne mountains in the distance, it was very quiet and we slept really well. Breakfast was brilliant and they catered for my wife's Coeliac dietry needs. We will definitely be back.

  Overnight break

  Booked into the Donard hotel as the Slieve Donard was fully booked. It was very good value for money. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast. The girls serving our breakfast were just brilliant. Warms and friendly. Highly recommend you give this place a try.
