  Beautiful and restful place

  We stayed three nights in Domaine Lyon Saint-Joseph to be close to relatives we were visiting in the Lyon region. Very nice big hotel housed in an old seminary surronded by a beautiful park. The room was big and very clean. The staff was efficient and helpful. The food served in the restaurant was delicious and the restaurant staff was very friendly. You need a car to get there and good directions or a GPS.

  Fabulous find.

  Wonderful affordable friendly hotel conversion. The atmosphere is still of a seminary....hushed and lovely. Grounds are wonderful. Easy bus to old Lyon. Breakfast was great. Good dinners available and were nicely priced. Would stay here again.

  A gem for business AND tourist travel

  In itself, The Domaine St Joseph is probably a 3 star hotel. Clean, quite, with comfortable beds. Book early if you want a larger bed; this hotel was once a monastery and smaller rooms with smaller beds are the norm. The property the hotel sits on is like a small park and you overlook a French village and you can see mountains in the distance. The hotel has meeting rooms and a small auditorium. The food there was fairly decent. Most of my meals were taken with the large group I was served buffet style so I grade those meals with a grain of salt. What makes this hotel an absolute gem are its rates. Hotels in the city of Lyon are not cheap. You can walk 5 minutes from the hotel to a bus stop and 2 Euros will get you into the city. Taxis and Uber are around 20 Euros. Even when you add transportation costs, you are saving HUGE over the hotels downtown. And it is so quiet. I opened the windows in my room to let fresh air in at night and was not once woken up by sounds outside. No shouting, no traffic, no sirens. It was great. One downside is that is has no exercise room.

  Amazing find

  I believe this could have been a monestry at one time. Lovely rooms great food but limited menu. Service A1. Amazing grounds. Views over Lyon. Would visit again. Parking more than ample. Modern bathroom.

  Pleasant Hotel but disappointing service

  I brought a group of 17 priests to stay at the Domaine St Joseph for a Spirituality Experience. The hotel was to be our base whilst we visited Lyon, Cluny and Taize. The rooms were clean and modern and generally very acceptable although an armchair would be a helpful addition. The bar was small and the service was very poor. After the first evening they ran out of gin and never restocked. Generally there was no staff on the bar and you had to call and request service but often there was no response. We had dinner on most evenings and the food was generally disappointing. In the meal package they provided 3 bottles of wine for 17 people which seemed very stingy (basically one small glass each). Extra wine could be purchased but was expensive at 24 a bottle. There was very little communication from the staff. When we asked about a place to meet for discussion it was suggested that we meet in the bar. When the invoice was presented this included a charge for a meeting room on one evening but we were never advised as to the the whereabouts or availability of such a room. The hotel were very inflexible over a mistake that was made in a booking for lunch on the first full day. When we asked to cancel this they said this was not possible without a charge and offered a packed lunch. Although the Domaine St Joseph is a pleasant place to stay the level of service we received was very disappointing. The inflexibility and lack of communication from staff suggests that the hotel is more focussed on maximising income and less on customer service.
