  Great hotel in Dunedin

  First time staying here and we were really impressed. We will definitely come back and stay. Great location and very cool building. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable and it was quiet - something that is super important to us. Staff were friendly and helpful too.

  Best NZ Hotel I have stayed in

  We were impressed with everything in this Hotel. It was the old Post Office building and housed Government departments as well. It has been renovated while retaining the old look and majesty of the building on the outside, with the warmth and feel of a stately Hotel on the inner. Our room was a generous size with two large sitting chairs and a round table in between. Ample room and space for both our bags. The bed was large and very comfortable. Fantastic tiled shower walk in, walk out with a press button start and finish. The added facility of a washing machine and dryer was a big bonus for travellers away from home for longer periods. The dining room very comfortable and the food good. Definitely stay here again.

  Excellent comfy room

  Would and will stay here again, beautiful room, clean private. had a very good night sleep, so much extended stay for another night. Room service was terrific and yummy. reception was welcoming and polite. loved the old stairs. and the history of the the building. A+++

  Room good, food bad

  The room exceeded my expectations, great shower room and comfy bed. I had swordfish with Desiree potatoes from the specials board. The potatoes were like bullets and swordfish was oily and bitter. I told the waitress when she asked and didnt complete the meal. No further comment was made. So recommend the hotel, but eat elsewhere would be my advice. Or Maybe I just had a bad one..

  Both business and pleasure

  I accompanied hubby so had the pleasure of staying at Distinction without footing the bill - so I cant comment on cost. However,I can comment on the rest. Distinction is simply wonderful. Theyve done a wonderful job of renovating a fabulous historic building, loads of remnants still in place (check out the stairwell!). Our room was well appointed (USB charging points!!), great view of the harbour, clean and very comfortable; I have a worsening osteoarthritis condition so to have had the best nights sleep in 6 months is saying something. As daft as it may appear, being able to park our vehicle on the property IN a carpark was an absolute pleasure. Too often weve found hotels/apartments do not have parking. I only had breakfast during this stay, found it to be very reasonably priced and the food put together well. The mocha was the best Ive had for a while, a lot of care went into its presentation - love the wee biscuit! Distinction is well situated, only a short walk to the Octagon, Countdown, shops at the southern end of George Street; those with better legs would have no trouble traversing to the northern limits of George Street. All in all, a fabulous stay. Hope to stay again soon.
