  Old and in Need of Renovation. Great View Though.

  I got a room in the outer building (probably an old servants quarters. It is quite old and doesn't give much value for money. The bed was okay but the bathroom was terrible - it had dirty walls and leaky faucets. I definitely wouldn't recommend for anyone to stay in the outer building unless it is renovated. The footpaths leading to the outer building are not illuminated, however, there are a lot of fluorescent bulbs illuminating the grass - which does not make much sense. That being said, the grounds are well-maintained, and there is a public beach right in front of the property. The food was okay, and the staff were very nice. The place has a lot of potential, it just needs to be cleaned up/renovated and organized better.

  Place to stay near the lake

  Got room at the outer buildings and could not access the wifi which is frustrating. The rooms need to be maintained as they don't offer good value for money. Bernard was very helpful in terms of places to visit and welcoming.

  Very good restaurant

  We went there to dinner twice, and it was absolutely good, fresh cooked food with local ingredients yet modern dishes as well. The staff was very friendly and the location is uniquely decorated and located near front beach. Don't know about rooms but definitely recommend eating here.

  Beautiful colonial building by the lake

  I stayed in one of the small cottage like buildings in the grounds which was nice but the bathroom needs a little bit of maintenance. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Antoine was extremely helpful and helped organise a bike and rigg up a carrier to strap my backpack to.

  Incredible location by the public beach in Gisenyi

  Lodging in Gisenyi is difficult for the budget traveler, but one could do no better than Discover Rwanda. The location is directly across from the public beach and walking distance to the city center and great dining options. Cafe Migano is 2 minutes away as well as Lakeside and several other drink/food options. Chris was very accommodating and made my stay terrific from start to finish.
