  A delucious time at Dieckmann's

  We have just spent 2 nights in the "Apartment" room with our 2 kids for a family-reunion weekend and I am so pleasantly surprised by our stay. The weather was great so we used the sun-terrace and beer garden a lot, while the kids played in the private playground. The food and wine was just delicious. There is a big forest for walks right at the doorstep and Dortmund town centre is only a 20 cab ride away for dinner and drinks one night. We didn't even have time to have a go of the mini-golf! The staff were very nice and helpful with our kids and language-barrier. I'm only giving 4 stars as although the bar and restaurant area is very smart and modern, the hotel and rooms part is not quite "luxurious". But this is definitely a great find if you are in the area!

  Night in Dortmund

  We chose this hotel because it says in the advertising it is close to Dortmund Football ground. Well, it isn't. In fact, it isnt really local to anywhere. It is situated out of town, in a nice leafy enviroment, with a well appointed restaurant. But if you dont have a car, its a long way from town. A return journey to Dortmund centre is 50 euros, we made two trips so spent an extra 100 euros on taxi fares, making it quite an expensive stay. The hotel is very clean, comfortable bedroom and good shower. An excellent buffet breakfast and friendly staff,. Not situated well for train users like us.

  Quality?

  Quality is what you perceive.....they say in the books... I perceived a room with zero possibility to stay i a dark conditions (lights outside were really strong ad tents did not close perfectly...) I perceived a very kind service but, in my opinion, today it is a must... I perceived a colleague of mine claims becausr of his external 2 floors room.... 3 star...not more

  Nothing fancy

  Hotel is average, nothing fancy but their restaurant is worth going!! My room (nr 21) was almost directly on the street so couldnt open my windows at night. Terrible. Bed was very good. Breakfast is also ok as is the WIFI.

  Nice Hotel!

  We stayed at the hotel for several times over the last couple of years and keep coming back because of the proximity to our family in Dortmund when we visit. Overall, one must say that this is a nice hotel and the restaurant produces some delicious food. However: the rooms are very basic and the furniture, if you can even call it that, is worn, dated and really could use an upgrade. In our room, the WiFi (they call it WLAN in Germany) was non-existent, which is a big nuisance if you need to stay in touch with your business overseas. To balance all this: the staff is extremely nice and helpful, the breakfast buffet not over the top but sufficient, the beds really comfy and the location a dream- if you have a room facing the forest and not Route 54.... If you can handle all this: try Dieckmann's, you'll like it. PS: as per Dec. 2017, there is no elevator to the upper floors, walk-up only.
