  An oasis of comfort

  I have been meaning to write this review since June 2012 when I stayed at Die Ou Pastorie twice in 7 days. This gives you a clue as to my thoughts about the place. The refurbishment of this old parsonage has been done to a very high standard with extremely comfortable bedrooms and relaxation areas and there is plenty of secure parking. The staff are very welcoming and professional and the breakfast is outstanding. Die Ou Pastorie is only 10 minutes or so by car from Oudsthoorn which gives visitors access to several decent eateries. This guest house really does offer excellent value for money and most importantly is in a wonderfully peaceful location.

  "Magnifique Die Ou Pastorie"

  We stayed in a beautiful bedroom leading to a glorious veranda. The stillness of the surroundings gives you a feeling of unbelievable peace. Profuse clusters of very fragrant Jasmine Climbing on the arch ways in immaculate garden magnificent Well done to all the staff of Die Ou Pastorie. Specially Bernadene. Thank you

  Traditional Karoo beauty, architecture and hospitality

  We flew into George airport and drove straight to the Ou Pastorie. The drive takes about an hour. The Ou Pastorie is just what the weary city slicker needs to reset the clock. It is situated out of town and it is therefore very quiet and relaxing. The Ou Pastorie has been beautifully restored with high ceilings, bay windows and wooden floors. Our room was amazing and the service was great! This must be one of the best hotels in the area!

  Quirky B&B in the middle of nowhere!

  A quirky little estate of colonial houses, beautifully kept grounds, and nothing around for miles. Definitely need your own transport for this one. 20kms out of Outdshoorn town on good but unlit roads. Secure car parking on grounds, and very peaceful. The house contains beautiful old furniture with a bright coloured wall art and decor and some kooky touches. Room was clean with gorgeous old 4 poster bed, white fluffy towels, bathroom products, slippers. A safe and (ostrich egg shaped) mini bar! Only downside of room was that although its ok and quite romantic to have a freestanding bath in the corner of the room, to also have a toilet with a small wooden screen to hide behind will soon spoil that ! We had a room with our own access to outside they lock up the main doors at 11pm, so essential to have one of these rooms if you plan on staying out later. Massive bunch of keys for the various things including metal grill door to your outside access and electric gate for car. Breakfast was serviced by a lovely young girl, with fresh coffee, fresh fruit salad and yoghurt, a choice of hot breakfast or cereal/toast. Fried breakfast was slightly dubious in parts, but the cat seemed to like the sausage, and the rest was at the least, edible. The site manager was there to meet us on arrival, was helpful in recommending where to go in the area and pointed us in the right direction for the best local restaurants. She was also there to see us off the following day, and was a pleasure. Should maybe mention that when we were there, the pool was green and certainly not useable. There is an outdoor terrace where you can breakfast overlooking it. All in all, if you dont mind the drive to get there, its worth a stay for something a bit different, but wouldnt recommend for more than a couple of nights.

  Back in Time

  Beautiful excellently restored and well kept piece of history. Stayed for 1 night enjoying the sunset with a bottle of local port and woke up the next day to a big breakfast.Personnel is excellent and helpful in any way. Made me feel at home as if it was my own house.Definitely there will be a second visit from me in the future .
