  Ok hotel, don't set your expectations too high.

  Was a little concerned before arriving after reading previous reviews however it turned out better than expected. As mentioned,theres no air con in this hotel... but this seems pretty standard in the majority of hotels in Malcesine. There was a fan in the wardrobe and by keeping the shutters down in the day we managed fine. The room itself is basic, but again this seems pretty standard in a lot of hotels in the town (except the much more expensive ones!) And after the initial shock its fine.. it does the job! You still get a nice view from a mountain side room, but if you're a fan of spectacular thunder storms it would be worth the extra for a lake side room... if it happens to be stormy whilst you're there you won't be disappointed by the show! The public areas (pool, reception, restaurant) are lovely. You can always find a sun bed! The lady who's job seemed to be Maid/Waitress/handy man was lovely, helped us out loads during our stay. The review below mentions a broken fridge... ours was also broken but the lady very quickly fixed it for us no problem. Only thing is that the hotel uses 3 pin plugs (again not sure if this is the norm in Northern Italy as we had the same issue in verona), however we received an adapter from reception. Would recommend this hotel :)

  Anniversary

  Very basic, outdated and overpriced without aircon which in the height of the Italian summer is a must. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room and a tv as small as a mobile phone and very noisy

  Very Poor Hotel

  Firstly the lift was broken the entire duration of our stay, one of our party has just had both his knees replaced and they put us on the top floor. They said an engineer was coming to fix the lift, this was the first lie they told us. The room was full old furniture , all of it needs replacing. The TV is a portable in the top corner of the room that you need binoculars to see properly. The bathroom is again very old and has brown stains in the corner of the tiny shower. No air con and a plug in fan that makes an awful noise is your only option to circulate air in a hotel that is like an oven. Very uncomfortable. The hotel is a dog friendly establishment and a nice little dog had a poo right in front of our table as we are breakfast. Its owner didnt clean up after it and neither did the hotel staff, so we had to finish breakfast earlier than planned as the steaming pile of poo put us right off our food. The rooms also have special plugs that your foreign adapters wont fit into. Reception have to give you the special connectors and I asked three times and was promised one would be put in my room and it never happened. The staff on the front of desk were very miserable and did not want to help in any way. Id rather sleep rough on the side of the lake than stay in this hotel again. It isnt cheap either so my advice would definitely be to look elsewhere.

  The hotel is a bit dated, art deco style. Rooms are a bit small but have what you need for a short break, kept very clean, good breakfast, good pool and friendly atmosphere with friendly staff. We have a great view from our balcony of the mountains and the lake as we are on the end of the hotel. Steep hill up to the hotel, but not too bad. Close to the resort centre. Over all not a bad hotel.

  Splendid views

  Really good service from all the staff, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent breakfast, plenty of choice. The rooms are perfectly adequate and clean. There is a television/reading room off the restaurant area. Splendid view of the mountains or of the Lake depending on which side of the hotel you're located. Well kept garden and pool area - which isn't large, but good for relaxing after a day spent walking or exploring. Would recommend this hotel.
