Fair accomodations at a fair price Deserves 3.5 stars.

The view is outstanding. We had a duplex room, three decks, and two of them look right out over the beautiful water. Sunrises and sunsets were always spectacular. The pool was great. never very busy, fantastic view, and the breeze and sound of the crashing waves were nice. Hotel is situated at the far end of Diamant Beach. You can walk from the hotel right on to the beach, but need to walk down the beach a little bit to get to an area where you can put your stuff, since the area near the hotel is rocky and at high tide the water comes right up against the rocks. This can be a little treacherous. The town is within short walking distance, and there is a small selection of restaurants there. You can wake in the morning and walk to the bakeries, and a pharmacy is also within a short walk. On the down side, the hotel seems to nickel-and-dime for everything. Only one exchange of towels during the visit, and they charge 7 euro each to rent a beach towel. I recommend just buying a beach towel from a vendor, you can get them 2-for-25 euro. - Wifi access sucks. We generally had to spend a lot of time in the reception/office area to get wifi access, which is critical to finding local places to go or to make reservations at restaurants (which is a must). - the driveway. This may seem like a funny thing to complain about, but if you are renting a stick-shift car (which is the most available on the island) and you are not a good stick driver, the entrance and gate will be a problem. It's steep -- super steep, and pulls out onto a very busy road.

    Great view, excellent food

The rating I am giving to Diamant Beach Club/Hotel is based on the low price (we did a timeshare exchange and the amount of points required was not large). I would not be giving 4 out of 5 rating if the cost had been higher. As there are rather few reviews in English, I try to tell a bit more because I was looking for more information and could not find enough. I hope this helps others to decide. If you are looking for a high-quality resort this is not your place. If you love a great view and good view and value for money, this could be your place. But definitely no luxury here. We had a two-bedroom apartment on two floors and stayed a week. One bathroom downstairs, both bedrooms upstairs. All rooms are rather small. Bed linen and towels okay but just okay. The apartment had 3 balconies, two of them with a wonderful view to Diamant Beach. Strange enough, the master bedroom balcony had no view whereas the 2nd bedroom had a superb view. We hear nothing from the other apartments. However, the sea can be heard all the time! We had our breakfasts on the upstairs balcony and really enjoyed it. On the first morning we tried the resort restaurant breakfast (continental 12 euros) but found it too small for us. On downstairs balcony there is a kitchenette where I made the breakfasts. The view is absolutely stunning. The apartment is dated. Kitchen utensils are old and partially lacking (eg. only 2 knives) but surely they bring more if you need). I had guessed right and brought with me a small bottle of dish-washing liquid, none was provided. Somebody was complaining in a previous review about roaches. I saw no insects whatsoever during our stay and the apartment was clean. Wifi is rather weak, except in the front desk area. Front desk and restaurant staff is good. Some English spoken. One mid-week clean-up with fresh towels. As it was a 2-bedroom apartment and there were just 2 of us we found towels to be plentiful. Which is good as the bathtub with the shower had no showercurtain and the floors absolutely soaked after a shower (I dried the floor cleaning towels on the balcony during the night). Bring your own beach towels (or rent from them). Safety box costs. Air-conditioning is only on when you are in. It requires a key of the same keychain of your apartment key, of which you only get one. So you can't leave and leave the ac on.There were 3 air-conditioning units in the apartment, one in the living area, and one in each bedroom. Unfortunately the 2nd bedroom unit did no cooling (the other ones were efficient). For two days we tried all modes and then I started complaining. After the first complaint it was clear the somebody had been to see the unit but no effect. 2nd time no sighting of any visit. On the 3rd time I was getting angry and as the handyman happened to be close to the frontdesk it became clear the he had been too lazy to do anything else than check that the machine runs, although I had explained (in French) that the machine runs but does not give any cool air. I was not happy of course. When we came back from the beach there was a whole new (brand new) ac unit which worked fine. The beach at the hotel is rocky and narrow and has too large waves for me to swim. We loved the food at the hotel restaurant (I talk about dinner, not breakfast). Excellent French food, large enough portions, very reasonable prices especially compared to the quality. There are other restaurants within walking distance but the one we tried when ours was closed on Monday was not as good. There is a small supermarket within 5 min walks and a bit larger a bit further. You will need a car to enjoy the island. I had prebooked a taxi from the airport because of evening arrival (47 eur). On the 1st day we stayed in Diamant, on the 2nd took a bus from Diamant village to Anse Eglise d'Arlet (and visited the church also) (timetable available at the reception, although the bus came 15 min late). The beach was okay, nothing special. No buses to other parts of the island. So I asked JumboCar representative (a desk at the front lobby) about cars and got one for the next day, price okay. Parking space is available. Some have been mentioning the difficulty of driving out from the hotel. It is not really very difficult if you are used driving a stick. However, switch off the ac until you have reached the street if your car has a small motor (tip from the rental agency). It is steep but as said nothing to really worry about if you are used to driving a stick. I would stay there again but one needs to know what to expect.

    Our Stay at Diamant Beach

Our comments on the resort are similar to others who have commented. It does need some TLC but having said that, we enjoyed our time here. We did not have a great view of the water - it was more a view of the grounds with the water in the background. The pool has a wonderful location and is well kept. With some updating this resort could be a 5 star.
