Clean, affordable,..., great restaurant,... when open !

This hotel is doing lots of wedding, a bit far from everything, you need a car, but it is clean and the price is right. If you have the chance of being there while the restaurant is open at night, ..., take the fish of the day, so good !

Feel at home in this spacious hotel/restaurant

A simple, inexpensive hotel with a restaurant where the food is a gastronomic delight. The chef has been there for 23 years, I was told. The restaurant is normally only open over the weekend, including Friday evenings. Never mind - there are countless other places to eat excellently and unbelievably cheaply. The hotel staff are friendly and ready to smile at all times of the day or night. The hotel backs on to beautiful, hilly countryside with the spectacular Gran Sasso mountains seemingly only a stone's throw away. Loads of parking space and the medieval hilltop towns of Loreto Aprutino and Penne are a short drive away. You do need a car though - as I quickly discovered. Richard Walmsley

Terrific hotel, great staff and superb food...a real find!

We stayed at this hotel because we had a problem with water supply to our house in the region. To be honest, I didn't even know it was there even though it is on the main SS81 (although set back so road noise isn't a problem) but we needed accommodation urgently. We had a double room and twin room - the prices were unbelievably reasonable and I was struck by how good the rooms were. Not luxurious perhaps, but more than adequate, recently decorated and with quality fittings and a big commodious bed. Also, the cleanest bathroom I have seen in a long while with sparkling ceramics and gleaming chrome. We dumped our bags, freshened up and headed down to the dining room. We had a massive table, the waiter was attentive and charming, and the menu included some mouth-watering fish dishes (for which apparently the place is famous). We enjoyed a freshly prepared meal of very high quality, accompanied by a bottle of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and water ad lib Perhaps perversely we went for the meat menu and it was superb - but we saw some of the fish dishes being delivered to neighbouring tables and they were mouth-watering. Breakfast the following day was fabulous, a pristine buffet with warm croissants, beautifully prepared fresh fruit, everything you would expect and again the same attentive waiter looking after us. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience and the cost was a pleasant surprise - much less than I thought it would be. Terrific value for money. Highly recommended

    Gorgeous

Not been to this restaurant in a few years as only open now Friday nights and Sunday lunch. Meal was gorgeous, pasta and meat and they have a new play area for the children, they have done the front up which just used to be a car park and it looks lovely now.

    Best seafood restaurent in region

Me and my family have visited Di Rocco Restaurent for the last 10 years. Every year we have found this restaurent to be a class of its own in the region. It serves some if the best Italian food - international class - and we can especially recommend their sea food dishes which are extraordinary. The restaurent normally is only open from FRI - SUN and is a restaurent seeving bigger groups and parties. However if you call in advance they might allow you to join the restaurent - and this we have never regreted. A visit at Di Rocco is a highlight in our yearly visits to the Penne-region. Also ask for recommendation to the right choice of local wine to your food - it is no less than great Italien dresscoat and no pizza ! Di Rocco is a hidden secret for turist - and too bad for that. Their restaurant is far nore than 3 stars - we give it 5 ! Love from Anna and Peter
